Why is that? Have you had problems there before?

We used to take out dogs there on an emergency basis and have always been treated great and the dogs have always received A+ vet service.

I had a dalmatian who went into seizures and they kept her overnight and gave her full time care.

Dr. Fox is great in my book.

IF it's the one on Post Office Drive..

I took a dying cat there..he had cancer but I didn't want to let him go through the night suffering and my vet was closed. The vet..not sure of his name, but perhaps Indian, acted like my cat was already dead when he yanked him out of the crate. Then he insisted on doing tests, etc. He became very angry when I told him that I just wanted the cat put down. I had to sign a release just to take my cat home.

AND the place was filthy.

When I told my vet my experience, I was told that while she couldn't really say anything against another vet she would strongly recommend that I take my emergency cases to Annapolis. Unfortunately, I had to use Annapolis a few months ago. They were absolutely wonderful...caring, compasionate and the place was very clean.

Sounds like you didn't deal with Dr. Fox. He is not indian. He's a big white guy. Very nice and talks you through everything.

I've never been to the Annapolis vet, but good for you that you found someone you like. Times you need an emergency vet are already tough enough, you don't need an idiot adding to the complication.

We don't live in Maryland anymore and we found a great vet here in Tempe that doubles as an emergency clinic. Very nice not having to transfer records and rehash things if you have an emergency.

I used to think that place was okay a few years ago but lately, they've really been disappointing and unempathetic and not to mention expensive for the crappy service. I used to like Dr. Fox there too but the past few experiences have not been very well at all. Unless its absolutely literally lifethreatening, then and only then will I consider bringing an animal there and it would have to be because its the only place open at the time and try my crap shoot odds.

Here are two experiences I've had to give you an example of why I don't like the place or not a fan of Dr. Fox - one incident concerning their staff, and another concerning Dr. Fox - there's many other experiences I've had but dont' have time to type this crap all day

Here's one incident of many concerning their staff - About a year or two ago on one of my visits the dogs were all there in the lobby and all of them sharing the same water bowl, I didn't think that was a good idea seeings how the dogs were either sick or injured and mostly they were sick. Then came back the next day to visit my animal there and while sitting in the lobby a lady slipped on the floor in the spilt water and badly injured her wrist. Lady behind counter did nothing but ignore the lady crying in pain in front of her in the lobby, I jumped up to help her and sat her down and noticed immediate swelling after a bit. I asked the lady behind the counter for an icebag and was told she couldn't give one out without someone paying for it, etc... lady said she's lucky she's not suing them and she deserved and icebag on the house, lady behind counter basically told her it was her own dumb fault for slipping in the water and they tend to animals not people, then lady with hurt wrist said she WILL be suing and took down my name as a witness.

Here's one incident regarding Dr. Fox. I had a rabbit that got hutch back and after waiting around 4-5 hours and kept getting bumped by dogs and cats coming in as walk in's he finally comes to me about the rabbit (around 1am at this point) and says to me that in order to do the x-rays they will need to inject a dye and it would be hundreds and hundreds of dollars and not worth it, I called his bluff, said okay do the xrays, then Dr. Fox asked me if I intended on eating the rabbit because it's toxic to people. I'm like WTF??? Why would I bring my rabbit there and wait 4-5 hours, pay a huge bill just to eat him? He was clearly a PET. Also, everytime I bring a pet there he tells me I should put the pet down or pay now thousands and thousands of dollars to fix the animal. Do I really care THAT much to save my pet... I'm like WTF??? I've started calling him Dr. Death then realized - if its that bad I need to take my animals elsewhere.

That's just some of the horror stories. The only good thing they did was help with Sampson on an emergency basis (after repeated recommendations by Dr. Fox and their other vetenarians there to put him down, etc... I insisted he be treated, he'd pull through and he did). However, for me, all the bad stuff and high price threats, chitty attitudes FAR exceed the one good visit I've had out of about 15 bad.

I agree with you on the vet but I just needed an answer to if I could give her Pepto. I also had bad experience with the emergency vet facility and would never take my pets there for treatment. I called our regular vet at 8am and got an appt for 8:40am. She is on meds for about a week and seems to be doing ok now. She has a common puppy parasite. No squirts for 5 hours so the meds must be working or she is all squirted out. She is drinking and the vet gave me some A/D wet food to try to get her to eat. She won't touch her regular food and this stuff (A/D) is like dog baby food. She seems to be on the road to recovery.

Its irronic you talk about yoru rabbit and how you got pushed back. nine years ago, my dog a puppy then (4 months old) broke his front leg, we rushed him to dr. fox, only to sit in the waiting room for an hour, we went in the exam room, they took my dog away for xrays, brought him back to me and we sat for almost 2 hours. When I complained to the front desk, dr. fox overheard me and told me that I was nussiance and that the people before me had to put their rabbit down and I should have compasion. I explained that I did have compassion, but someone could at least tell me what was going on with my dog. I had a puppy with a leg that was dangling, and all i could do was hold him, i had nothing to stablize him. dr. fox finally came in after reviewing the x rays told me the break was extermely bad, and would costs thousands of dollars to fix. I told him that I wanted something to help him through the evening and I would take him to my vet in the morning. He took my dog in the back to give him some injections to help him through the night. Dr. fox told me to go to the front and they would bring my dog out to me. Well I went to the desk they told me it would be close to a thousand dollars, I questioned of course the charges, I told dr. fox that he was way overpriced, that this was outragous, he told me to pay or leave my dog. I said fine, (not that nicely), pulled out my visa debit card to pay and dr. fox refused to allow me to pay with my card, he told me cash only. needless to say a huge aurgment ensued, (by now it is almost 5 in the morning) dr. fox calls the cops on me, cops come, i had to go to the bank to get the cash before he would give me my dog back.

I would stay as far away as I could from dr. fox.

:flowers: We had to take our big baby there a little over a year ago and the staff was very understanding and compassionate.:tearinguphere: It actually meant something to have the vet there with us sharing our sorrow.

For what it's worth I have to give my two cents. Dr. Fallon and Dr. Fox were wonderful taking care of Sasha after both of her front legs were run over by a car. Over the year of therapy and medications/bandage changes, Sasha is now the boxer she was meant to be. Thanks to them. I still take Sash once in awhile to visit and say thank you.. They say, "Is that Sasha"?

Love them!

Ok that's BS! Sasha was a patient every 12 hrs to have her bandages changed, (no lie) I had to drive back and forth to have them changed. Then it went to 24 hrs. Then every 3 days.

I NEVER saw a water bowl that anyones pet shared!

So it looks like Dr. Fox had some good recommendations

Coughing........ BS!

We have had good experiences with Southern Md Veterinary referal. My hubby said he has dealt with Dr. Fox two times. They took very good care of our Greyhounds.

We would recommend using them if you have an emergency.

Dems....You mentioned "walk-ins". We were told you have to have a referal, even for an emergency. So there would be no "walk-ins".

Must be a different place, because I walked in.

Alot of people confuse the Southern Md Veterinary Referal with the Waldorf Veternary Clinic. We used So. Md. Referal.
