hi all !!
I'm 17 weeks pregnant and my OB (Calvert) has given me a form or paper to get a 3d/4d ultrasound done at Radiology Imaging in PF.?? is this the norm? I have never had any children so I don't know, friends are telling me it's not normal at all?? I have BC/BS insurance and when I asked the ladies at the office they said it wasn't extra and that it was standard now?? any ideas???

It's pretty common now. My oldest will be 9 in a couple days and 3D/4D was new when I was pregnant with him. My youngest is 6 and I think all my sonos besides the very first were 3D/4D. The one around 20 weeks definitely was because I remember how much different it looked from the one I had with my oldest at the same time in the pregnancy. Don't be concerned at all.

I got one at 20 weeks..and I got the paper a little before so I could make the appt before my next ob appt.. a 20 week is standard practice now. Its so neat to see them swimmin around :)

That is what my doctor did too. I was given a referral to have my ultrasound done at St. Mary's Hospital at 20 weeks. I go tomorrow. :yay:

Hmmm...seems everyone is going at 20 weeks and I'm only 17 weeks??

Do they want you to make the appt for right now? I got my paper for it on the closest appt before I hit 20 weeks..which right now you are likely going once a month, that seems like what htey are doing..otherwise you would be 21 weeks next time you go,,,see what I am saying? Unless the doc said make this appt right now, they likely mean it is for a routine 20 week. Call the office and ask for clarification, though.

If the doctor suspected a major problem they would have sent you directly from the dr's apt to the hospital for a sono. My oldest had an arythmis (sp?) that the doctor could hear on that little doppler machine they use. The ob called my mom (who was also a sono tech) and told her if she couldn't do a full sono immediately that she was sending me to the hospital.

I would think that if there were any concerns your doctor would share them with you.

Well they gave me the paper at my last exam which was 2 days before
Thanksgiving and then they told me that to get the test for down syndrome I would need to come back in 2 weeks, which is tommorow. But she told me the paper would be for AFTER this appointment tom?? I guess I should ask again for clarification.
