I have had grey hair since I was 17 or 18... BUT now I have noticed I am starting to get crows feet by my eyes. :faint: I moisturize every day... I even spend the $25.00 for that Olay Regenerist....

What are crows feet?

You should try sephora for good face creams. They sometimes give out samples if you ask nice :)

Well they gave me the paper at my last exam which was 2 days before
Thanksgiving and then they told me that to get the test for down syndrome I would need to come back in 2 weeks, which is tommorow. But she told me the paper would be for AFTER this appointment tom?? I guess I should ask again for clarification.

An amnio is the only way for sure to find out if a baby has Down syndrome. I think you mean the NT scan though? That scan doesn't give a diagnosis, just what your chances are. But you're too far along for the NT scan.

Those little sunshine wrinkles by your eyes when you smile. Like this but mine are not quite that severe yet. crow-.jpg

I definitely think you should call you Ob and ask them to clarify for you. I agree that normally if there is a problem, they will tell you why they are concerned before sending you for a sono. My dr always told me that normally sonos are between 18 and 20 weeks depending on how your appts fall. but I had 3D/4D sonos with both of my children. There is a routine blood test that they did for both of my preganancies also which tests for chromosomal abnormalities including down syndrome...I think you are just going through standard exams...

Google Says....

The quad marker screen, similar to the triple marker screen, is a blood test that provides a woman and her health care provider with useful information about her pregnancy. The test predicts the likelihood of a certain problem occurring. It does not diagnose the problem. For example, cholesterol screening determines a person's risk for heart disease based on the amount of cholesterol in the blood, but it does not necessarily mean that the person has heart disease. The quad marker screen determines if a woman is at higher or lower risk of carrying a baby with a birth defect. This means that some women with healthy babies will have screening results indicating a possible problem (and will be offered appropriate follow-up testing) while some women whose babies have birth defects will go undetected.

Because of the uncertainties surrounding the test result, you may opt to not have it. Talk to your doctor about the pros and cons of taking this test before you make a final decision.

I'm older than you and they were optional for me.

Really? I have to go to the Center for Maternal and Fetal Medicine in Annapolis for sonos every four to six weeks -- nothing in Calvert is acceptable. I try to get out of it at every doctor visit and she says, "Nope! Back to Annapolis, you old bag!" :ohwell:

I went there for the NT scan, but my ob/gyn said it was optional. Maybe things have changed since 2006/2007? Weird.

Blood test which sometimes come back as a false positive . That was the case for me but the sono gave me enough hope to not have the amnio done.. Wasnt worth the slight chance of a miscarriage... My son ended up being born with a CHD not downs.

If the blood test comes back postive they want you to go get a more detailed sono to look at the baby....And yes the older you are the higher the risks are for downs...

I did the blood work along with the scan. Our risk for Downs was 1:114. Not a great number even for my age. I declined the amnio and my son came out perfectly healthy.

Isn't it fun :coffee: I managed to escape my last one. I should probably mention that to my OB at my appointment tomorrow, actually. Absolutely loathe the drive up there, and they could only ever schedule me for something so that I always hit the worst of morning rush hour getting there.

Of all the 3D/4D sonos I had done (same situation as K_Jo, I had to go up there monthly) I think the ones from 18 weeks turned out the best. Skinny lil guy, but he looked a lot less squished than all the later shots!

I think they try and schedule your second one around 18-20 weeks (and if you're not high risk, odds are this is the last one you're getting unless your doctor thinks you need more or you want to pay out of pocket) because odds are good baby will flash you and let you know what variety of plumbing is installed.
