If I'm going to WaWa, I will use that lane past Exploration Dr if traffic is backed up that far, granted I am not driving fast due to not being able to see if traffic is stopped letting someone pull a ubie out of the bank. Is there some law saying I shouldn't?? I don't use that lane to breeze through the WaWa or hotel parking lot like a lot of folks do.
Two things about this. First is that the lane in question is NOT travel lane. It is supposed to be used for merging onto 235 from the outlying businesses OR turning into said businesses from 235. It is not supposed to be used to avoid long lines in traffic or cruising for 2 miles until someone decided to turn (Yes, I know this sounds ridiculous but, it is the way it is supposed to be used) otherwise it can cause accidents for people who are trying to use it the correct way.
Second, 90% of the people who use this lane during high traffic times are NOT using it to get to Wawa. They are using it to subvert the traffic signal or to just jump back in right before the traffic signal. They use it to get onto the SERVICE ROAD (yes.. it is a service road as it is not a named street) to get into the hotel parking lot.
But, since the SMCSO does not feel the need to do traffic enforcement during these times, it is the wild west and those who do it have absolutely nothing to fear as far as repercussions.
