And had ONE close call today. if I was in a car, would have made a hell of a mess.. but I squeaked through on the bike..

Let me tell you about a close call;
I was riding through town Friday by the donut connection on 235; I'm in the middle lane. I'm approaching the intersection and the light turns green for me. There is a line of traffic on the right and the lead car does not move when the light changes. There are several vehicles including vans and a large SUV behind it. I'm thinking one of them will get tired of waiting and pull around the lead car so I'm slowing down keeping an eye on the line of cars. I'm doing 30-35 tops; my bike has stock exhausts so it's not loud. I never heard the siren on the sheriffs car that pulled out in front of me. I lock up all brakes, down shiffting like a mad man. He sees me and stops dead in the lane right in front of me. I end up with my front wheel less than 2 feet from the front door of his cruiser. I stop, he looks at me and takes off...

I get my $hit together and ride down the road to a place I can pull off and wipe. I see my tach is dead and turn signals don't work. I check and no neutral or brake light...I pulled the side cover and find the 20 amp signal light fuse was blown. How did the fuse blow?

You aren't splitting any lanes on that V-Strom. The whole time I was behind you yesterday I was thinking that things as wide as a friggin bus...

Scared the poop out of teh bike too. :lmao:

Glad you didn't get hurt. I'm seeing more and more police officers driving recklessly lately, both with and without lights/sirens.

i always hated to ride down a lane that is moving and traffic is stopped in the lane next to it. some idiot is inevitably going to pull out in front of you...

for the fuse, i would check the control alignments on the handlebar. it's possible you squeezed so hard you moved one of the levers up to an exposed wire or something and it shorted out.

It's legal but I am not so sure about accepted. When I was out there there were alot of bikers who got pinched off by cars who saw they were coming.

Passing stopped cars is one thing, if oyu do it at a reasonable clip, but these guys fly passed with an ovetake speed way too high and scare the crap out of people giving bikers a bad rap.

I'm sure there are folks that abuse it.
I thought there was some law about max speed or speed diferential for lane splitting, but it's not listed on the AMA Website

There are alot of bike riders who abuse it. There is no specific speed differential in the law so it is left to "judgement" or "common sense" both of which are absent in a large number of riders.

When you are sitting in your car in traffic and someone blasts by inches from your door going 40mph faster than you are it is a recipe for disaster. All it does is add to the animosity created by lane weaving/splitting bike riders threading their way through traffic.

I am surprised the law has stood this long.

He had to speed up up by about 6 times to fit that 29 minutes into 6.19. But still, his average speed would still have to be around 80 mph in that traffic.
so, in conclusion after looking at the numbers, I would have to say that I have come to the realization that this individual is an ass.
29 miles in 39 minutes. I get 45mph average.

Some of that traffic was at a dead stop, that is when you get car doors opening.

That's happened. Makes the evening news with pics of some idiot with 600lbs of running motorcycle in his lap. :yikes:

That looked like something fun for an "indestructible" teenager, not something I'd want for my daily commute to work. I'd be too keyed up to sit at my desk. Then again, it has to be rewarding to watch everybody else stuck while you can still drive.

You want to see bad behavior on 2 wheels, take a drive up 97 just south of 695. I typically drive between 75 and 80mph on that highway, and I've been passed by groups of import riders going so fast that they shook our vehicle as they went past. 100mph isn't even close to what those fools were doing.

When you have bikes that can do 200 MPH out of the box.. 100 is just idling..

Industry voluntary top speed limit is 186mph (300 kph). Of course all it takes is a little ecm re-programing to get rid of the top speed limiter.

That came into play AFTER the release of the Hyabusa.. they, the motorcyle companies, thought it was getting insane..
