None of us mean to hurt your feelings but... The place has a horrible rap. There's not one person here, who would be caught dead there.
They only have a horrible REP, if they are sponsoring RAP..

Saturday's not Hip Hop night is it??

I'd go to lunch at Monks, but Charlie is at St James now..

Oh, forgot about that.. wonder how that's going.

So is St. James back to food all the time now?

I went to Monk's one Thursday evening and when I pulled up the owner/manager...whoever it was was outside picking up a bunch of empty and broken beer bottles. I asked him if it was always like that and he said "only on Thursdays cause all the college kids and waldorf trash (his words...not mine) come here on Wednesday night and it's a bad scene".
Shortly after that there was a stabbing and a shooting.
But hey...if you're into that kind of stuff, Monk's rocks. :larry:

Charlie does the lunches there.. and at night they continue to serve his "White-Board Specials" It's a crap shoot to getting anything off of the menu, but Charlie's is still the best, so you can't go wrong by just ordering what's on the board.

I had the BEST cream of Potato soup there a few weeks ago.

I used to go to Monks back in the day... Lot's of bars have bad reps, especially for non regulars. I'd stop at Monks before some places down in the 7th. It's a nice stop on the way to Point Lookout. I don't drink while on the bike either but a game of pool and soda sounds good. They are calling for 54 degrees on Saturday and no salt on the road (haha) so pull your garage queens out and take a ride... :howdy:

I used to work at Monks and the shooting was actually in the parking lot. People just do not get randomly shot. Bar hardly gets any business these days and the hip hop scene on Thursday nights has long since passed. The people that are going to be leasing the bar for the next 2 years are the same people that own/run Scheible's so I am sure they will have specials and etc. to draw a crowd but I do not think it will ever be a hip hop club scene again. I managed to survive 4 years there without being shot on a Thursday night.

Where does it say " inside the building "??

The very first paragraph....

"A California man is listed in critical condition, on life support, at Prince George’s Hospital’s Shock Trauma Unit after being shot inside a county bar early Thursday morning".

Three pool tables and under new management bar has been redone totally on the inside.. located 2 miles past St'marys college
I was just there a couple (2 or 3) weeks ago and it looked exactly the same. And I did not go there by choice. I had pool league. That place is too dark to shoot pool. I'll give you credit on the dart boards though, they're nice. The clientele sucks, the food is ok but nothing special, the drinks are over-priced, and the beer is usually warm. I hope "new management" has fixed all these problems.
