Diamond Pet Foods has expanded its voluntary recall of dog food brands distributed in Alabama that may be contaminated with Salmonella.
The affected food was manufactured between Dec. 9, 2011 and April 7, according to Friday's announcement.
Brands affected are Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover’s Soul, Country Value, Diamond, Diamond Naturals, Premium Edge, Professional, 4Health and Taste of the Wild.
To determine if their pet food is recalled, consumers should check the production codes on the back of bags that have a number “2” or a “3” in the ninth position AND an “X” in the 10th or 11th position. The best-before dates for the recalled brands listed above are December 9, 2012 through April 7, 2013.
“We have taken corrective actions at our Gaston, S.C., facility and voluntarily expanded the recall out of concern for our customers and their pets,” a company spokesman said.
In April, the company recalled several Kirkland Signature brands, sold at Costco. Included in that recall are: Adult Dog Lamb, Rice & Vegetable Formula; Super Premium Adult Dog Chicken, Rice & Vegetable Formula; Super Premium Mature Dog Chicken, Rice & Egg Formula; Super Premium Healthy Weight Dog Formulated with Chicken & Vegetables; Super Premium Maintenance Cat Chicken & Rice; Super Premium Healthy Weight Cat Formula; and Nature’s Domain Salmon Meal & Sweet Potato Formula for Dogs. The "best before" dates on the affected products are Dec. 9 through Jan. 31, 2013.
