Those are very talented frogs, Jazz

Very nice pics!
Thank you. The frogs are my favorite little pieces of sculpture. They're actually in the woods at the edge of my front yard, hence the little azalea bush next to them. I smile every time I see them.

I like funky little statues and stuff that's not very intrusive. I have a little giggling pig in my herb garden. Maybe I should take a picture of him to share, too. :lmao:

Dayum, I didn't know bait could play musical instruments. Must have been fun dancing down the lane.
Frogs are not bait. My favorite activity when I was a youngster was catching frogs. I guess I'm still partial to them. :blushing:

I just came back from a walk at dusk. The number of white wild violets blooming now in the lane is incredible. With the fading light, they twinkled brightly and it was like walking through stars.

Since I'm off today, I got my walk in a bit earlier than normal. The wind is really blowing out and there's lots of noise from the trees and leaves.

I was coming around the edge of a wood pile deep in the woods and came face to face with a large deer. I froze in my tracks as did my dog. We stared at each other for a couple of seconds, then he stamped noisily, blew out his nostrils very hard, turned and bounded away.

I'm now covered with a fine mist of deer snot. :twitch: I think now is a good time for a shower. :lmao:

It happened so fast and unexpectedly. I'm still chuckling about it.

That's pretty cool though. When we were looking at buying our house, we were walking the property line with the owner. I heard something in the bushes and looked up face to face with a big ass buck.

I too made the :yikes: face.

I came face to face with nature this evening too... There were two poodles humping in the car next to me when I parked at Mattingly's Finer Foods...

Yesterday's walk spooked two deer as soon as we rounded the first bend. A big buck and one of his harem members. Today I didn't see any, but I did notice all the ferns coming out along the path. I also found my first tick crawling on my foot. :heebeejeebees:

I also heard and saw a pair of summer tanagers - probably the same pair as last year. :yay: They are pretty rare around here and are very beautiful. The male is a bright scarlet and the female is a dull gold.

I may not be able to go out walking in the woods, but I got to see dolphins jumping out of the water before the storm this week. :neato:

Tonight...

The rain refused to end, so I decided to walk anyway. It was a soft rain and I laughed when it tickled my face. The smell of the pine forest was incredible. There were puddles everywhere. I had fun being a little kid again and stomping in them.

The dull brown pine needles cushioning the path turned into a rich mahogany and were the perfect backdrop for the brilliant greens of the ferns and wild violets. The soft sounds of the raindrops hitting the leaves was a beautiful accompaniment to my walk.

I got thoroughly soaked but enjoyed every minute of it. I took my tennies off and water poured out. My jacket weighed a ton and is still drip-drying on the front porch. I stretched out on the hammock afterwards and just smiled at the beauty of it all.
