Based on this, it looks like unless forced to change, they won't. There is 60% using recycled paper but that's an awfully low number. Plus they fear the cost is higher, but it doesn't look like it really is. :shrug:

Even if it did make the price of the Harry Potter books rise by about 10-20% higher by using recycled paper(if that was their concern) I don't think it would have affected the sales much. It's Harry Potter....some people waited outside bookstores for hours just to be the first one to get it as soon as it was midnight. Plus they would have had some good publicity.
I have to agree. Scholastic would get so much MORE out of the great P.R. from using recycled paper for their printings than it would ever cost them in higher costs. Being "green" and environmentally conscious is gaining in popularity now and many consumers look for these kind of companies when shopping.Triggerfish said:

A lot of people were so unhappy that they ordered their Harry Potter books from Amazon Canada instead of the U.S. Amazon since the Canadian publisher Raincoast printed their books on 100% recycled.
