Big Lots has a section of "Hawaiian" party stuff. And wouldn't you know, they have light-up pink flamingo's AND palm trees. I sooooooo wanted to get a pink flamingo for the yard. How tacky would that be?!?! :lmao:
It doesn't get much tackier. I wouldn't dream of having a pink flamingo in my yard at home, but I told FB it's either the flamingo's, or Florida. Pick one.

OK. I think roadside memorials are STUPID.. specially since most of the fatalities they are there for died becasue they were doing something STUPID!!

That's what graveyards are for.. take your silly stuffed animals, and plastic flowers and make a memorial in your living room where I don't have to look at it. Nothing nicer to remember someone by then a teddy bear thats been sitting in the weather for six months.

Donate your money to the Mothers Against Dum Azz Drivers..

Karma Bomb me all you want.. Stupid is Stupid..
This might get worse after this.. but you know what.. I only got one hit of red, and probably 6 of green over this thread!!

SO, what's preventing you from getting off your duff and picking up those irritating plastic bags??

I realize that nobody cares about my opinion, but I shall give it anyway. That is what defines me as MMDad.

The roadside memorials do not offend me. They are far less distracting than firemen filling the boot, flower sellers in the middle of the street, or brush fires in the median when idiots discard their cigarettes.

However, I really do not understand why people would want to celebrate the place someone died. The Vito shrine in Lusby is as bad as it gets. Vito killed himself and three innocent people 7 years ago. The shrine celebrates him, and his victims are almost afterthoughts. Why would anyone want to decorate the place where their friend/son/relative did the ultimate stupid act?

Likewise, the memorial in front of the Burger King in Solomons. Why celebrate the place where drugs, alcohol, and speed mixed to kill someone who should have never been there?

In front of the Solomons rec center - Why celebrate that she should have looked for traffic before pulling out?

On Mattapani, the shrine does nothing to remind the kids who drive by that two kids died there because somebody chose to drive drunk.

When people die from normal causes, we carry on. Why is it that people want to erect shrines where people die doing stupid things?

So if most of you dont like seeing the roadside memorials, how do you feel about the 50-100 little white crosses that the Pro-Life people put up????

I am Pro-Choice on the grounds that a woman that was raped, druged or anything like that should have the CHOICE. I do not support Abortion for convenience.

Those little crosses make me mad whenever I see them. I dont like someones opinion being thrown in my face.

I HATE those freakin crosses. So trashy. I been tempted to "lose control of my vehicle" and crush them soooo many times.

i'm with you on this one.

perhaps they see it as an 'homage' to the place they left the earth? not how i feel.. just a suggestion.

i don't particularly understand cemetaries, either. i'm sure i'll get flamed for saying that... but i just see a perfectly good piece of land wasted. i celebrate family members with happy memories... not plastic flowers placed on a piece of stone/granite.

Oh, but mowing a cemetery is so much fun! Especially watching one of my compatriots getting his huge riding mower stuck between two gravestones about half an inch closer together than the width of his mower.
