This evening about 5:20 on my way home. Chopper was sitting in the field with an ambulance, and the north bound lanes were shut completely. Caught a quick glimpse of a car on a roll back. Anyone know any particulars??? Hope nobody was hurt too seriously!!

Came through about the same time- Caught a glimpse but haven't heard anymore.
I miss all the scanner updates on here- This was always my "To Go" place for first to know info.

Said a prayer for all involved.

I just heard the tail end of it as I am on the Saint Mary's side and just got to the FH after work
All I heard over the charles scanner was a landing zone for a ehem, dont quote me, "ten your old male with NO airway compromise" from the crash.

hughsville should have a story up on their website soon

T-bone accident , one car pulled out and got clobbered, MSP came across it before anyone had called it in. Eldery lady in her 60s, unconscious, shallow breathing was who was flown out. Believe she was in a Oldsmoble. Don't know the conditions of any other patients.

Caught a blurb on WKIK this morning that an 80 year old woman heading South failed to yield the right of way when turning left onto GG and was struck by a 37 year old heading North. The news report said the 80 year old was flown to PG and passed away later in the evening. No mention was made on the condition of the 37 year old. I couldn't find any supporting article here or on the Baynet. My thoughts and prayers to the families of those involved.

I've seen several bad accidents there. Heck, there are allways bad accidents at crossovers. People just need to slow down and pay attention. We don't need anymore traffic lights on the main roads.

Prayers for the womans family and hope all is well for the other driver.

Accident

I was caught up in traffic from that accident yesterday. So sad that someone lost their life at that intersection.

It's sad that so many people felt it necessary to ride up the shoulder of the road to pass all the traffic that was backed up while EMS took care of those people. I had no problem with sitting there if it meant someone's life could be saved. There are pleanty of people who should take a good look at themselves and question why they are in such a hurry. If it had been them or their loved ones invovled in this unfortunate incident, I'm sure they would want traffic to stop so EMS could safely help them.

Did those people driving on the shoulder interfere with the emergency help? If not, what's the problem?

Did those motorist know the shoulder was clear and that it would not be needed to get to the accident scene or even if the accident was on the shoulder? I doubt it since you could not see the accident from there, they were just in a hurry.

Look up Maryland Law 21-304(c).
$110.00 fine and 1 pt can be ticketed for this.
Page 37 of this document Lists the fines for driving on the shoulder. http://www.courts.state.md.us/district/forms/criminal/dccr090.pdf

It's also a good way to get flats. Lots of road debris.

I knew the accident was a bad one when I heard it reported in the traffic report on WTOP. Rt. 5 never gets a mention, even up in Clinton, let alone in Hughesville unless it's REALLY BAD.
