maybe they were coming off SKinner Turn Rd. The reporters may not know that one side of the road is Skinner Road and the of is Briscoe Turn Rd.

Nope..truck was going south and van was hit on driver's side...and I saw the skid marks, etc. on the way home tonight...it was Briscoe Turn.

Does it matter what side they were turning from? There were two other teenagers in the van and maybe they had to be picked up.

The van looks to be sound (intact) from the pics. Were these kids wearing seatbelts?

Unless the news reports are incorrect, the other two girls were from Chesapeake Beach as well. It is definite that the brother and sister were from a development off of 260.

As I said earlier, my son was there. The driver's side of the van was demolished..you can't really tell that from the pictures...it was shown on the television reports this evening.

Speaking as a person who has lost a child (although a baby, not teen.), it's the worst pain you can ever feel. The worst depression you can ever sink into. The first and only time I got to hold my baby was as death was approaching. You have so many hopes and dreams for your kids and to see it all lost is heart-breaking. I feel so bad for these parents and for the survivors who have to live with this memory for the rest of their lives. I too saw the skid marks yesterday and can't imagine the terror that was going through their minds at that moment. They will be in my thoughts and prayers each day and night.

What was it, four or so years back we had a teen kill himself along with his sister and friend including the driver of the vehicle he collided with in Lusby? What angered me was the parents of the driver bought there kid a high performance car (Mustang) as his first ride. What did they expect would happen?
About that many years back another incident in Price Fredrick that involved members of our church where teenage sister was driving brother to school but lost control on wet road hit a tree killing both.
In both these cases driver inexperience + a maturity factor is a bad mix to allow teens to transport others that are younger then 18.
My own daughter made a comment that when she gets her license she can drive our son to school. I’ll leave it up to your imagination as to my response to her.

If the first accident you're talking about was past Pax HS on Rousby Hall Rd, I remember that one. They set up a huge memorial alongside the road. There was also a teen that smashed into a tree riding his motorcycle in Lusby so it's not just teen and cars. Kids want to grow up so fast nowadays.

The accident in Lusby was 8 years ago. We were freshmen (I went to school with and knew Jackie and Rachel). Mike was a senior I believe....Such a shame. :frown:

Prayers to the families....I remember that accident in 1999. We were just Juniors in HS...Mike was in my class. It was very sad. I also lost my two best friends and bosses last year in a head on collision in huntingtown. :bawl:

My son came in from school yesterday talking about this tragedy. He said Mr. North talked about it at Chopticon - this is our week playing Northern in sports. My prayers are with those families involved.

first ans formost prayers to all the childern and their families, also to all the responders and witnesses!

My question is arent there laws about teens driving other teens in their cars?

i just moved back up here in dec of 06 im not sure about it here but there is in virginia: Since July 1, 2001, Virginia licensed drivers under age 18 are not allowed to drive between midnight and 4:00 a.m. in most cases. Also, teen drivers are restricted to the number of passengers under age 18 who may travel with them (one passenger if the driver is 16; three passengers if the driver is 17). Passenger restrictions do not apply to family members.
so she would be within the law if there.
