I got stuck in it also - it was just a car broke down. didn't see any other vehicles involved, and there was no damage to the stalled vehicle

Ditto. My heat goes out to those parents and rescue personnel. What a tough thing to deal with. Prayers for all involved.

If van was traveling south, they would be going AWAY from Northern High School...

Regardless to where these children go to school its very sad to see young people lose their lives. Just remember to say I love you to your children as much as you can. And keep these families in your prayers tonight.

From the way it was hit and the way the vehicles landed, it would appear they were travelling south and the truck tried to cross over and hit them on the drivers side, but I'm not sure. I know going down Rte 4 you're usually flying, so I would think if they were going fast it would have been the van that flipped. Regardless it's a horrible way to start the day. I can't imagine what those parents are going through.

:yay: that's what it looked like to me. It's hard enough for an experienced driver to make a trun like that in heavy traffic. Put a kid in the drivers seat.....

omg.. just saw the pics on NBC.. that is awful. My thoughts and prayers go out to the families.

NBC report says that is what happened.
Pretty sure is true, that's the usual senerio for accidents there.
That is a horrible intersection.
It makes me nervous when I have to cross 4 there.
I avoid if possible, even if I have to take a longer route.

Condolences to all these families.

Police said the truck was headed southbound on Route 4 when the driver of the minivan pulled out into the path of the truck. The 17-year-old driver was killed in the crash. Her 14-year-old brother, who was riding in the backseat, was injured. He is in critical condition.

Two other female passengers were also injured. They are in serious condition, officials said.

Reminds me of the accident involving the Calvert High kids...the Thorns. That family lost a son and a daughter.
