How horrible... I can not imagine two loved ones at once. I feel terrible for the family.

It was very sad, they went to school with our youngest. The mother never got over it. She committed suicide in the last year or so.

One of these days they will have to redo that intersection.
This is not the first death there.

Blind both directions...one side because of ALL the trees and the other due to the hill.

I am so sorry for the families and all the kids at NHS...Kids take this very, very hard....and so close to the holidays too.

I also feel sorry for the driver of the box truck.

Prayers for the families and all the rest involved..EMT, Firefighters, etc.
Hard on them too.

:huggy:

Our oldest was one of the first EMTs to respond..he was driving by. Full impact hit on driver's side.

It's a bad intersection...very limited vision with hills. They've had many bad accidents there.

These accidents with kids make me ill.

:yeahthat: Just another reason my daughter will never get her license. :bawl:

I'm not sure about Charles and St. Mary's but Calvert is a bad place for inexperienced drivers. Route 4 is Hell..lots of hills and blind intersections. Then there are the narrow, windy roads..not to mention deer and other wild animals.

Is there a link online anywhere that shows the location of some of the fatal crashes each year? I think if people started to see (on a map) that over and over again certain intersections basically kill, perhaps the call for some redesign would be heard.

From NBC4web site,
The driver, Alyson M. Purvis, 17, of Chesapeake Beach, Md., was killed in the crash. Her 14-year-old brother, Ryan J. Purvis, was the left rear passenger, police said. He remains in critical condition at a local hospital.

Two other female passengers were also injured. Kathryn M. Singleton, 17, and Marina M. Ybarra, 16, both of Chesapeake Beach, Md., are listed in serious but stable condition.

Police said all of the teens attend Northern High School. They believe the students were headed to school at the time of the crash.

The driver of the box truck has been identified as Jose A. Hernandez-Perlera, 31, of Annapolis, Md.

Police said Hernandez-Perlera had two passengers in the cab of the truck: Victor Acosta, 39, of Temple Hills, Md., and Robert A. Morales, 22, of Annapolis, Md.

All three occupants of the Isuzu truck sustained minor injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment. All three were expected to be discharged Monday afternoon, police said.

Southbound Route 4 was closed until about 11:40 a.m. as authorities investigated at the scene. The incident remains under investigation.

Did they get to school too early and decided to drive the circle?
Look at map...Briscoe is the lower section of a square.

Chaneyville Rd to Flint Hill Rd sounth to Lower Marlboro Rd, NE up onto Briscoe Turn Rd, over to 2/4 and back upto Chaneyville and NHS...
Why else would they be on Briscoe??

I did a Google map...hope it works...

My brother, my boyfriend adn my best friend were in a car accident when I was 16,
Tish ( best friend was stoned) crashed into tree,,boyfriend Scott was killed. He died in my brothers arms...I declined to go to the movies with them...did not want to cry watching Love Story..so I stayed home with older brother who had been in a car accident 2 days before.

I ofter wonder what would had happened if I had gone??
So this accident hits home..really hits home...

If Tish had not wanted to go to a friends house after the movie...If I had gone....If I had driven the car...If...If...If......

The accident ruined the town and ruined families...I have never seen Tish since the evening before the accident...and I have never seen my kid brother cry so hard ....that was back in the late 1960's.
And at times, it seems like only yesterday.....

One looses their innocence real quick and I think that is why I went into medicine in the Navy..to heal..and help keep people from dying...Just rambling here...excuse me......
