You followed me home for a while once, when I was feeling too good, I don't think I got anywhere's near those kinds of speeds. Of course, alcohol affects different people in different ways.

All I wanted to do was get home in one piece. :yay:

I remember. You didn't weave or drive fast. Kids think they are indestructible.

I don't know if I managed to say thank you, but here it is: Thanks!

Hear what part? I read about the accident here and the rest from someone who knows the 2 that were killed. I have not used names.

Prayers to their families. Such a tragedy. Can I ask one question, how old were they? Just like to share the story with my teenage drivers.

They were barely older than teens, but young 20's. sad and infuriating at the same time...

You're welcome, Penn :howdy: we've all done it. It's not right, but we have.

You were drinking and driving? :yikes: :nono:

Yeah, I managed to have a few too many one night, and Morgie followed me a great part of the way home.

Maybe it's luck, maybe it's just the knowledge that you've gained over time, that you just have to get back to your house - and not cause anyone else any harm. I focused on that; it was the only thing on my mind.

I concentrated on keeping things slow and easy, parked the S-10 in the garage, and went to bed. :yay:

Young kids, I guess, don't know that just because you screw up, you don't make a big deal out of it, the idea is to just get home safe.

Tomorrow is another day.

keepsmiling: nice to meet you too, I think?

You obviously had/have your head in the right perspective.

Others think, "Hey, I made it home okay! All that talk against drunk driving must be hype..." So they feel confident enough to do it again.

But maybe next time they have 4 beers instead of 3.

And maybe next time they don't end up being so lucky.

We all sat there for a while before we even thought of leaving. I should have followed you down Chancellors but hindsight is 20/20. You were doing okay :yay:

This is embarrassing to some degree; I was concentrating on not speeding, keeping the truck in the right-side lane, that I didn't realise you were the one following me.

When you honked your horn, waved at me, and I glanced back to see your car heading down Great Mills Rd., that is when I knew I had someone looking out for me.

Hey! Is that what we all can use, now and then?

Someone looking out for us? Yeah, I think so. :huggy:

Don't know where anyone got the info that they were drunk....

Driver was wearing a seatbelt..can't speak for the passenger...

Car was a Dodge Neon. Front end ripped off and ended up about 20 feet into the woods after car impacted a tree at a high rate of speed.
Word from EMS was they both passed away enroute to hospital via helo transport.

Dammit people...have everyone you know look at the pictures posted on thebaynet.com and bdvfd.org and help them realize the results of driving at a high rate of speed!!!!! People usually just shrug it off and make statements like "it's my life & I'll do what I please" - but they don't stop and think about the consequences as to what it does to family and friends as well as the mental/physical toll it takes on the fire/EMS people who have to pull & pry them out of these wrecks!

Excellent post. :flowers:

There was an accident this morning on Rt 2/4 Lusby right after the landfill but before Cove Point but on the south side. I saw a tarp in the median ditch and some state police standing by it. Only Fire Truck apparatus and state patrol cars were there and what appeared to be some witnesses. A champagne colored car hit another vehicle and either caught fire on the front or that was a bra on the car. The front was pretty messed up. It was around 7-7:15am. As I neared Vera's and Calvert Cliffs I saw an Ambulance heading south and later after that I saw a Cal Cty sheriff SUV headed that way. They both had on their emergency lights.

Then later going north on 4 after the salt house passed Broomes Island an idiot in a torquoise car looked like a Oldsmobile Barretta or something. was impatient in the left lane and cut in front of a pick-up nearly missing being clipped and zoomed down the road towards the Prince Frederick Fire house near Calvert Well Drilling. Total idiot didn't see the state trooper sitting at the left lane U-turn until he passed it and then broke all to hell to get back down to 55mph.

Unfortunately, the state trooper wasn't focusing on northbound traffic so he wasn't clocking speeds nor could he go after the guy for that matter because we were all coming down the road in a group and the idiot turned into the shopping center before the Benedict Bridge light where those jeeps are usually on the side of the hill. I guess he figure he would get out of sight in case the state cop decided to try to catch up to him.

It seems that when I see drivers speeding and cutting dangerously in front of cars the police is never around. Those are the ones that the police need to pull over and there are so many of them driving up and down Rt 235/5 and Rt 4. It's too unsafe and they ARE taking other's lives, finances and mental stability into their hands.

Did anyone see either of these incidents this morning?

I was an EMS worker on that call and I agree with Voter2002, the death of a person impacts friends, family and the EMS/Fire workers! The accident was tragic enough all in itself and yet people still want to run their mouths and make up their own version of what happened and what types of injuries the 2 gentlemen substained. I think instead of people gossiping about what they looked like and what happened to them and adding their own twist, what they should be doing is learning a lesson from tragic situations like this. My thoughts and prayers go out to ALL the family and friends of these 2 young gentlemen. May God comfort you in your time of need.

I was there also with the fire department. This call as well as the one on 235 last week took it's toll emotionally on more than one firefighter as well as I'm sure some EMS workers. You and I sometimes perform a tough service that others would rather flap their gums about instead of joining up with us and getting knee deep in it themselves. This business isn't for everyone....but we both sure could use a few more hands!

Thats how them b*tch's R
my thoughts and prayers go out to their familys. i know for sure that one of them left behind a 4 yr old daughter. very tragic indeed.

For PAirl76 and Voter2002. God Bless You. A member of my family is a volunteer firefighter so I know how horriffic this scene was. :huggy:

I really hope people heard your message as they read it and go look at those pictures but most importantly if you have young drivers in your family, share them with them. And share Voter2002's message with them. Makes a lot of sense to me.
