ADDING keyless entry to an older car

Does anyone know the particulars about adding key-less entry to a 2003 Honda Civic? The driver lock is failing off/on and in reading online, I see the usual remedy is to replace the cylinder, however, a less costly remedy appears to be adding key-less entry. So I looked up key-less entry online on Honda's website and I see this:

Part Number: 08E60-S5D-100

http://estore.honda.com/honda/parts/search-result.asp?m=2003-civic-4-lx-side-srs-4at&dl=

Could it possibly REALLY be as easy as to add key-less entry?

and I see this when I search Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=+keyless+entry+honda+civic+2003+08E60-S5D-100&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3A+keyless+entry+honda+civic+2003+08E60-S5D-100

How do I know which unit, if any, is compatible with my car? Why do I always seem to have problems I have no money to fix ??!! grrrrr

I can't take it to the dealer because I don't have money to pay the bill.

I would think they could tell you a what type of keyless entry would work in your vehicle according to make/year/model and you could procure the part and have it installed wherever you choose.

If the lock is broke, seems to me its already keyless entry.

no not broken fully YET, intermittently the key will speak to the computer to say "I am the correct key" and the key goes in just fine, otherwise the key goes in only partially, it's just a matter of time before I can't get in that way and will be forced to become a crime victim by having to get in via the passenger door, climb in to unlock the driver door, then walk back around to get in the driver's door. Don't suggest I just climb over from the passenger seat to the driver's seat either ..... if I was 50 lbs and 6 years old .... maybe that would work in a HONDA LOL

hmmmmm ok so I will call my local Honda dealer and ask - thank you. I recall having key-less entry installed when I bought the Viper alarm system for my SUV way back in 1997/1998, and it didn't involve the dealer, but then again the Honda has a computer chip in the key, so it's bound to be different.

Does the keylock in the passenger door still work? Use that to unlock your car. Locking can be done by the lock button on the inside of the door.

Go to Brandywine Autoparts and buy a gently used door with a working key entry. If you're lucky, you can find a matiching color.

yup that's what I am having to do now, unlock car via passenger door, climb across car to unlock the driver's door (wearing a skirt makes this part fun for any man behind me), then walk around to driver's door to get in. Do you see why this is a hassle, in addition to causing me extra time to get into my car in/around the "dorf" where people get robbed ..... oh hell, can you come be my body guard?

dark blue is a common color, however the lock in that door would surely have a different lock that wouldn't communicate with my car's computer WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Hell, if WR can climb in thru the roof....

Isn't there a door unlock button on the passenger inside door?

ya know ... I was trying to pull my skirt down over my butt with my left hand while reaching to unlock the driver door with my right hand and with no hand to support my body, I went face first into the console - OUCH!

I hope you have a mouth guard.
