ADDING keyless entry to an older car

ya know ... I was trying to pull my skirt down over my butt with my left hand while reaching to unlock the driver door with my right hand and with no hand to support my body, I went face first into the console - OUCH!

I don't know about being a body guard, but why don't you lean across the console in a skirt again and I'll see what I can do....

Do you like apples?
The hell with all those ideas, just leave the windows down and climb in like Bo and Luke Duke did in the General Lee.

Maybe you can even learn how to slide across the hood (with your skirt on)

I think I will call the dealer today and ask the PARTS Dept if they make a key-less remote for my car.

Judging by the fact that you have to lean across and unlock the drivers door manually, I'm guessing your car does not have power door locks. If that's the case then there is more involved than just getting a remote key fob. You will need to have actuators added inside the doors to actually move the lock mechanism, along with a receiver to take the signal from the key fob and tell the actuators to lock or unlock.

Something like this: http://www.amazon.com/Megatronix-CP300DK2-Control-Channel-Function/dp/B007OWQG0A/ref=sr_1_5?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1414509828&sr=1-5&keywords=keyless+entry+kit

Some of the stereo install places also do auto alarm installations. Most of these have the option of adding keyless entry to cars that don't already have it. If you have any questions, shoot me a PM.

Yes they are power door locks, there just is not a button on the passenger side to unlock all doors, that button is only for the driver side.

Ok, I've never seen one with only one button. Usually cars have a button on each side that unlocks all doors. Since the actuators are already there then, it shouldn't be to big a task to add the remote. You may still have to have the control unit installed but maybe not. The Honda dealer or a stereo installer should be able to tell you for sure. I had a 96 Dodge Intrepid with power locks but no keyless entry. I tried to upgrade it myself but the mass of wires turned out to be more than I could decipher.

I hope it works out for you.

Most Hondas, if you put the key in the door lock and turn it to the left and hold it for a few seconds, will unlock all the doors.
When you hold it to the right, it will lock all the doors.

Edit:
Oops, I think that is backwards.
Left to lock.
Right to open.

Huh. Never heard of that, so just went out to test it on my GMC. There's no keylock on the passenger door!!

And it didn't work either way on the driver's door, it only unlocks the driver's door.

You can get the problem door lock fixed for less of a headache then it will be to convert to a keyless entry system. But if you are set on converting a universal kit (like this) should do it for you.

No keylock? Does it have a touch system as back up?

Nope. Just the remote and the one keylock on the driver's door. It has OnStar, so I could call and have them unlock it if need be.

But this truck doesn't always give me warm fuzzies with the electronics. Too complex for it's own good. Once after starting the truck and driving off, I noticed that the turn signal made no sound. All other audio worked, just no blinker noise. Worked OK after a stop/restart. And then a few days ago I pulled into the garage, turned off the truck and got out. Walked around to the rear passenger door to get my packages, and the door was locked. As were all other doors except the driver's door. It ALWAYS unlocks all doors when you put it in park and remove the key.

It's already had a recall for a new software load for the transmission and another for the entire truck OS for some other weird bug.
