Adderall XR 20mg.

I started a thread about this almost 3 years ago.

Some children do need it.

Thankfully, there has never been violent behavior, and he gets straight A's. He is now able to stay still in class instead of chasing after a bright object that catches his eye. Reading Larry's posts earlier reminded me of my son's thought processes. That is all fine and good, but not in a school setting when there is work to be done.

Structure, diet, counseling and monitoring (blood work...if medicating) are all important with ADHD. Medication is not the solution, but it can be part of the cure.

He is in 5th grade now. I want to see 6th grade drug free, and so does he.
Adderall is an Amphetamine.. legal speed.

If you want to see ADHD in action, I can introdue you to my son..

You can have a conversation with him, and you look at him and know he's not there. he may be talking to you about homework, or his math class, or what he did in school today, but while he's talking to you, he's on the 5 yard line, it's 4th and goal his team is losing by a field goal, and there's 3 seconds left on the clock.. and he steps up to the center to take the snap..

His mind operates on 8 cylinders ALL the time, he's never thinking about just one thing, but probably 4 or 5 things at the SAME time. He can watch a movie one time, and when you get a chance to watch it, he's reciting line by line entire scenes (more than just a little frustrating).

He's a good kid, that loves his mom and dad, and his brothers and sisters. He's a smart kid, that would have been held back if he had ever been diagnosed. He's somewhat socially inept, and can get you to the point of wanting to pull your hair out.. But he is who he is, and we love him, wouldn't want him any other way than him being him.
I think you just described Dustin. :roflmao:

Boy, there's a lot of cars parked at that house. I wonder if they're having a party? Maybe it's a Tupperware party! I could use some new Tupperware - my lids are getting old and starting to crack. I should run over there real quick and see if I can get some new lids. They wouldn't mind, it's more sales toward hostess freebies. Do you think they sell just lids or will I have to buy the whole thing? Because I don't need the whole thing, just the lids.

Wow...this thread is too long to read...but I wanted to say that my brother is ADD...and so is my dad. My brother was a very quiet, well-behaved, bright boy. He got bad grades because he just could not focus in class. He daydreamed all the time. He never had behavioral problems...he just couldn't focus on his work. He was diagnosed and my parents put him on ritalin. He only took it during the school week...not the weekends or the summers. He only took it so he could focus and actually do his work. It didn't change his personality at all. His grades improved almost overnight.

To all of you that think people only put their children on meds to "control them," you are wrong. It really irks me when I hear that. Just because you don't agree with it doesn't mean you can label people bad parents because their kids are on meds.

My 16 y/o was diagnosed @ age 3 with ADHD. :
Diagnosed at age THREE??

WOW, and what kind of testing did they perform??

...just recently decided not to take it full time anymore. he now only takes it when he has a big test at school or needs to study for the big test.

You can probably save a lot of money by gettin it on the street.. Like they did in the 60's when they had to cram or prepare for a big test..

The above is an actual almost word-for-word conversation. Seriously.
yeah, but at our parents age they don't call it ADD, or ADHD.. it's senility, dementia.. alzheimers.. or eccentricity(if you're rich)..

If you're poor you're senile, if you're rich you're eccentric..

You sure it's just your brother that has ADHD??

 There's a difference in being bored with something and not being able to concentrate on something....

And he has ADD...he's not hyperactive.

DSM IV only recognizes ADHD.. ADD was removed in the 90's (or maybe even in the 80's)
