In another thread there is a raging debate as to what is really a sex crime and what is not.
The crux of the matter is what should be considered a "crime". Most states, if not all, have an "age of consent". If you are above the age established you can consent to having sex with whoever you want. If you are under the age of consent you cannot consent regardless. now many states have loosened up this because if the age of consent is 15 and a 15 and 16 year old engage in sex the 16 year old would now be a felon even though their ages may be different by only a few weeks.
The argument in the other threads is about legislatures even having an age of consent with regard to sex, and if they do what it should be?
