Did they at least bring their trailers??

LOL..no. Ours is a 7x14 enclosed..too many of those and that little parking lot is beyond full.

I would be embarassed to show up with the bikes in the trailer unless I could say with a straight face that we had just towed it at least 100 miles to get there.:killingme

Nope. Riding season for this "fair weather" rider is April-October.

I can't imagine being stuck in a cage for 5 months out of the year. I gripe about the single days here and there when ice is across the roads and I can't ride.

Love to ride but I am like I.S., fair weather rider. Think my biggest thing about fair weather riding is not having to clean my bike as much as i would if I rode in the rain or salt covered roads. Trying to get the pecking order right; wife, bike, kids...kids,wife,bike...bike,kids,wife.......you get the dilema.lol:killingme

Salt, rain.. or bugs..

I LOVE riding in the colder weather just because of the lack of bugs.. and a motorcycle engine and cold weather are a match made in heaven.

Especially old Harley engines. Keeps that 80w engine oil from becoming so darned thin...:killingme

I don't fault anyone for their riding choices. I actually like (and need) the time off in Fall & Winter but then I really look forward to that first 70 degree day in April.

I worked outdoors for 23 of my 30 years with Verizon but I never got used to that cold. I'd much rather ride when it's 110 out, than when it's 60.

Not as much as Gerbings!

I have both. Two weeks ago I rode a PGR mission for the firefighter killed in Baltimore. It was 7 degrees when I left the house. Realized going up the road that my palms were sweating and the rest of me was freezing. I'm thinking there may be a heated liner and/or socks in my future.

I hate the cold. As a military brat I went from Scotland as a toddler to SC to South Virginia, to Hawaii. As active duty I was never farther north than NC and Texas, until I got to Bolling. And two tours back in Hawaii. All those years of being able to ride almost 365, I just never got into 4 wheels.

I'm laughing at the pecking order... my wife and kids always come first... however if it's been 2 days and I haven't been able to ride, they will shove me out the door and say "go ride". I never noticed but evidently after 48 hours or so of no riding I turn into a prick.

Maybe that's my problem when riding in colder weather, I don't properly outfit myself. Only been riding a few years and always late spring through fall, it gets cold, I get off. Rode to work last year when it was supposed to be 70 or so in the afternoon and froze my ***** off in the morning, it was about 50 when I left. Maybe changes are a comin'. :buddies:

Gerbing G3 gloves are perfect.

Some complain that they don't feel hot, but I think the heat is PERFECT. Your hands NEVER feel cold, but are never hot enough to cause you to have sweaty clammy hands in side your gloves.. AND they are actually made to complement heated grips.. ie more heat on the backside than the palms.

My heated grips, the high setting is intended for someone wearing insulated winter gloves, as if you are wearing summer gloves it feels like your hands are burning.

I took my '47 Harley for its maiden run with the new/rebuilt flathead this morning. Shop clothes on..no gloves..no goggles..just a hoodie and a helmet.

Between the chill and the fact that a '47 Harley is simply a lot of work to start and to ride..wore me slap out, it did.
