My feelings aside is there anyone else here who is just completely fed up with the way the media seems to be masturbating over this whole incident?
I just arrived and this is the first post I've read tonight, and I'm not going to backtrack this thread. I will simply respond with what I was thinking this afternoon.

During my lunch I watched the memorial bell-ringing at noon. I still don't think this should be a "national" day of mourning event, but I respect those personally involved enough to stay quiet and let them have their time. And this is something that a good number of people probably want to see, so I think it's fair that the media was covering the story.

However, after the memorial was over and they (Channel 9) were cutting to commercial they showed a segue where anchor Mike Walter said something like, "Join us tomorrow as we go live to Blacksburg as students return to class."

THAT is, to me, egregiously excessive. Obviously the students and college are attempting to return to normalcy... while reporters still want to poke the wounds by sticking a mike in their face and asking questions. It's time to let it go.

Exactly . . . Find me a crying sophomore and we will make it the lead on the CBS nightly news.
