Am I the only one not over reacting?

I just saw this in the "locked" announcements.

I think that's a great idea. I'm not sure how they'll enforce it, but good on them looking out for the seniors.
Seems to me I saw something similar somewhere else, giving the elderly special hours or treatment. :yay:

The problem with giving senior citizens special hours and treatment us that they'll start expecting it when this is all over. They're already bitching here because they missed Liver and Onions day at the Senior Center. God help us on Friday when they miss Spanish Rice day.

And before any of you get your panties in bunch I'll be 66 in June.

I would say I'm a little concerned. I don't think the Gov't is being totally honest (shocker). The worst is yet to come. I've never seen reactions to a pandemic like this in my lifetime. Interest rates lowered to near zero. Hoarding of supplies. Federal, state and localities declaring state of emergency. I think its the unknown is what I'm a little concerned with
I think the government, i.e. the CDC, NIH, don't have the data they wish they had. That source of data, from ground zero, has been slow coming and apparently lacking.
Unlike MERS, AIDS and other viruses, the US and western countries haven't been able to put people on the ground.
The one lesson they do have to work with is the Spanish Flu, hence the shutting everything down. Maybe a little over the top, but I think they are trying to control the spread as much as they can. Buying time until they can get an anti-viral or immunization

The biggest problem is people, selfish, morons, who have to hoard either because they are afraid or because they hope to turn a quick profit.
People who wont self-quarantine when they are ill - because they have to feel important.

Or? How about those that are just doing, the men, what they feel is necessary to care, and provide, for their family? What you may see as hording, another may see as ensuring the survival of their own. F*ck those that could not see, or listen to, the writing on the wall. May they rest in peace.

What are they gonna do if someone younger decides to waltz in during early hours? Push them away?
It's a quaint idea, but not terribly enforceable.

Given the stuff I've read, and looking at the data easily found, I think we are ridiculously over reacting. I do believe that the virus is far more prevalent than what the tests indicate. I heard this morning that Denmark is utilizing herd immunity to deal whereas most the rest of the world has decided (had decided for them) that isolation and crippling economies is the solution. I will have to follow up on that. Hey, I have time because one of our biggest customers put their biggest job for us on hold. That's 4 weeks of 24/7 work, gone. Thank you China.

In the meantime, I will comply with the government mandates, I will keep my social distance and for the good of the community I will continue my preventative health routine of good diet, exercise and moderate amounts of spirits.

I guess it depends on your definition of "moderate". Mine might be different.:buddies:
certainly will depend on who you ask - “ if alcohol is consumed, it should be consumed in moderation—up to one drink per day for women and two drinks per day for men” https://www.cdc.gov/alcohol/fact-sheets/moderate-drinking.htm

“ In common parlance, a moderate drinker is someone who does not drink to the point of drunkenness unless on special occasions” https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/balanced/201907/defining-moderate-drinking

But my favorite part - “Casual drinking on occasion poses very few immediate threats, provided one is not engaging in any other kind of potentially reckless behavior while the acute effects of alcohol intoxication are felt.” https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/balanced/201907/defining-moderate-drinking. Isn't that part of why most of us drink? Kinda takes the buzz off of “hold my beer and watch this”. :lmao:

....two drinks per day for men” .

:lmao: I think that's a typo.

But let's check the math to be sure. 2 Drinks Per Day times 7 days per week..clickety clickety ...multiplication factor applied to Friday-Sunday clicket clickety ..."hanging out in the shop" margin for guest consumption ...2 more beers per day..clickety clickety..press "Total" zzzziiipppp! 4 cases. OK..so they were not far off after all.

....while the acute effects of alcohol intoxication are felt.

"actute effects"? Is that the thing where you and all the wimmin around you get better and better looking - more cute - the more drinks you've had.?
