This is not an, either/or, issue. There are many shades of grey and nuances. One size, or two, definition does not fit all. To pigeon-toe people into only two categorizes is foolish. The gathering of items for preparation of a given time frame, to go without reliance upon others or stores, is extremely prudent. It's not hording. Well, unless you are the government with warehouses full of horded items for use of the special few, relative to the population, and they don't want you to have anything more than a three-day supply or anything. Ergo, anything more than that and you are hording. It's all in the presentation I think. What starts out as a good post with a good point to make, turns into a shitshow when his alter personality takes over. You have to work at reading his posts to separate the good from the bad. He posts truth most of the time, he just lacks decorum.

Stunned.
Dr Li, 34, tried to send a message to fellow medics about the outbreak at the end of December. Three days later police paid him a visit and told him to stop. He returned to work and caught the virus from a patient. He had been in hospital for at least three weeks.
Dr Li was working at the centre of the outbreak in December when he noticed seven cases of a virus that he thought looked like Sars - the virus that led to a global epidemic in 2003. The cases were thought to come from the Huanan Seafood market in Wuhan and the patients were in quarantine in his hospital.
On 30 December he sent a message to fellow doctors in a chat group warning them about the outbreak and advising they wear protective clothing to avoid infection.
What Dr Li didn't know then was that the disease that had been discovered was an entirely new coronavirus.
Just watching NHK News. Nice to see a different perspective. They showed pictures of Wuhan after dark. Desolate. No cars or people in the roads at all. No TP on any shelves there either.
They also talked about Dr. Li. Apparently, he flagged the virus outbreak back in December, and was shut down by the government for dispersing incorrect and illegal information. He is now dead from Covid-19.

Didn't South Korea utilize a version of herd immunity to make their progress in beating this back? Remove the most vulnerable from society, utilize best practices, test when indicated, quarantine and treat when needed. You know, exercise a modicum of common sense. When I suggested this very thing in another thread I was assured that I didn't know what I was talking about and that's not how immunity works.
Seriously? Not possible. You know, exercise a modicum of common sense.

That's the way it always works. But the professional epidemiologists on social media - who just a few weeks ago were constitutional experts - have assured me that they are right and I am wrong.
Heard immunity is presently impossible. It requires fairly high rates of immune people, like 40 to 60%, either through having already caught and recovered from the disease or being immunized. This thing hasn’t been running its course long enough for that to be the case anywhere in the world. That may be the hoped end state but not yet.Didn't South Korea utilize a version of herd immunity to make their progress in beating this back?
