Myrtle Beach, Black Bike week the local community found it's better to close up shop for the week then stay open and get ripped off, no tips etc.
Most come to the event on rented or stolen bikes.
It's the only Bike event in the world were most of the bikes should have a Wide Load sign like a truck when dim women get on them!

sad. My Dad loved Va. Beach...then things changed there. Moved to Myrtle Beach and like you say ..

Our city police chief and the Bay County Sheriff just issued a statement that they're not gonna take it, no they ain't gonna take it, they're not gonna take it anymore. And they are overwhelmingly supported by the voting public who has outright threatened to oust not only the Mayor but every single city council member, AND demand the firing of the TDC.
I'd be sorry to see our police chief go because he's pretty awesome, but if he ran for Mayor he'd win in a landslide.

I don't think it's the Mayor so much as the Tourism people and the city council. They're the ones who are all "heads in the beds, don't care whose." This Mayor just got elected last year and one of the reasons he beat out the incumbent is because he's a local's guy instead of a slave to the tourism industry.
We'll see.....
