The vaccine is last year's strain, nobody knows if this year's strain is going to be close to last's years so they inject the dead virus just incase. There is no certainty with the vaccine, even with it; you can STILL get the flu and it can be just as bad or worse than somebody who didn’t get it. So far, doctors haven't been able to prevent anything, even with the vaccine, because each year, the flu strain is different.

What am I whinning about? I just brought up a point that I think people in Southern Maryland care about. A lot of people down here have children, or elderly parents and I just wanted to hear their opinion. I'm not trying to argue with anybody. Your just trying to start with me this morning. I'm glad you think healthcare is a laughing matter, but a lot of mothers I have talked to are worried that their children are going to be left without a vaccine.

It doesn't belong in Politics. I didn't want this to be some political debate that Pete is trying to turn it into. I just wanted to know what were Somd'ers thoughts on the subject. It could have went under news I guess, but too late now.

Now that it is 10am, you are correct. Some places in ND are two hours behind (I thought it was 3) but the border is only 1 hour behind.

The best thing any parent can do for a child during this season is provide a healthy diet and vitamins. It is all about keeping the immune system in the best possible shape just incase they do become exposed to the flu.

My grandmother gets that vaccine every year, than she proceeds to hang out in the mall during flu season. :dork: Each and every year, for 8 years straight, we watched her become bed ridden for several days with it. Now, me and my children never had the vaccine and she thought that we brought it home to her when we never became sick with it. Of course, she was back up and at the mall in a few days, so the stipulation that “if you get the flu, it will not be so bad” I guess comes in play here with the vaccine.

I don't get the vaccine either, and I haven't had the flu for a very long time. I can't remember the last time I had the flu come to think of it.

What is your issue?'s? Can't you post without being politically motivated? Maybe its because you don't have an individual opinion related to what is being said?
