America's dumb blonde screws up again...

Fly I have to agree with you about the data should be protected by these companies no matter who it is. Hopefully some of the companies will wake up, another good example is the choice point fiasco this last week. Over 145,000 affected in our area alone.
Paris brings alot of her problems on herself but, I don't think this is the case this time.

At least she didn't pull a Joanie Lauer and record a tape for the explicit purpose of releasing it commercially.
I have respect for Joanie Lauer's honesty. Paris Hilton, on the other hand, tried to pretend she was embarrassed and horrified - not embarrassed and horrified enough to actually stop the tape from being sold all over the place, however.

But she certainly gave her permission or else it wouldn't be on video shelves, available for purchase. It's against the law to use someone's likeness for commercial purposes without their consent.
Bush signed off on Moore's movie?

I think it's a hell of a coincidence that, out of all the T-Mobile customers in the US, somehow some hacker just happened to tap into her phone just as the furor over her latest sex tape was dying down and she needed a publicity boost.

I think since he's a public official and the movie was classified as a documentary, it's a different legal situation.

But you knew that. So you must be bored again tonight.

Believe what you will.

The point remains, The T-mobile/Danger servers are insecure and you're fixated on the wrong points of this case.

A little late, I know, but the T-Mobile Sidekick is an instant messanger-thingie. Commericals have Snoop Dogg, Wayne Newton, Molly Shannon, and guess who.... Paris Hilton! (among others)

Not to go along with the conspiracy theory, but just because Paris is in the commericals doesn't mean she has to own the thing. What are the chances of someone finding and exposing her Sidekick on purpose?

She's photographed all the time with her Swarovski Crystal-laden sidekick, it's public knowledge that she owns one.

The hacker had been caught and was in court by the time this story broke. The reason he was able to hack all of the info is because T-Mobile stores all of your info on their servers instead of locally on your phone. This has caused them to be hacked of sensitive info several times in the last 2 years. Most people think the reason that they force their users to keep their info on their servers instead of locally, is to prevent them from switching carriers. It's alot harder to jump ship if you can't take all of your info with you. :peace:

Yeah. That's the problem I had with them when I owned a Sidecrap. I was not comfortable with that. I just bought a new phone/PDA and was looking at the new Sidekick II, but then I remembered how they pin you down like that. Plus, theres' no Macintosh sync for it. I'm so much happier with my Treo650.
