Star 98 gone forever on my dial!

Switch to 97.7 :dude: :larry:

Good luck to Moose. I'm sure that moving across the country to be anally raped was not what he had in mind when he took the job. I think the idiots in charge over there need to have the #### slapped out of them royally. It would be nice to have a little reliable stability on the radio in the morning.

I'm glad I can get DC stations. I've had enough of SOMAR. They can't provide timely emergency information, no traffic in the afternoon, and they treat their employees like crap. They would be my last choice if I were an advertiser.

Aren't 98.3, 102.9 and 97.7 all owned by the same idiots? How in the heck has "Awesome" Frank Dawson managed to avoid the chopping block?

Good question. Thursday he gave us all the updates about what happened in the area Memorial Day Weekend.

He does as he is told and probably makes almost nothing. No reason to fire him.

They probably paid decent $$$ for the people they've been firing. I'd like to know what the reason was, or if there even was one other than $$$.

People keep listening, so there is no reason for SOMAR to act any differently. The FCC never should have allowed the merger that gave SOMAR a monopoly down here. Without competition, there is no reason for SOMAR to try to please their audience. If you get mad at 98.3 and switch to 97.7, SOMAR still makes the $$$.

Yea, your right! I haven't listened to 98.3 since T-Bone and Heather left. I guess we're stuck with 'Awesome' Frank if you can handle country music :lmao: I myself prefer 94.7 when Shelby :larry: is on from 9-2 but I can't always pick it up down here.

Welcome to America - please enjoy your stay.

There's nothing that says someone else can't start a station down here and compete with SOMAR.

You know, Vrai, I think you could do this. I can think of a few personalities that would be great for your station.

I am leaving when Moose leaves!!!!

Moose is awesome!! I have met him several times over the last few months and have even made a point to stop and see him when he is doing a remote somewhere on the weekend. I can't believe they are letting him go. He has made Star worth listening too in the morning. Normally I just throw in a cd and listen to it. But since he (and Mike before he was let go) started DJ'in on 98.3, I have made it a point to listen to him every morning on my drive in. I even went so far as to get my antenna fixed on my car when it wasn't picking up the station when I got on base.

However, 98.3 WILL be deleted from my radio program when he is gone. I guess I will just start throwing in cd's in my car again. I just can't believe that they are letting him go. Maybe there is some way we can convince them to keep him (that is if he still wants to stay now that they have plans on letting him go).

Either way, Moose if you read this, I really wish you and your family the best. Even though you have been truly modest about not being one of the best. I will have to disagree. You are at the very least..the best in our area. Your thoughts and views are always well thought out and presented with the upmost professionalism. I just hope that where ever you go...you will post back to us so we may listen (if you decide to stick with radio) Even if you are out of the area and we can listen to you via the internet...I WILL!!1

Thanks for all of your dedication and hard work and once again I wish you and your family the very best. Good Luck to you and God Bless you.

I didn't read the entire thread, but here's my 2 cents. It's a real shame. Who knows what SOMAR wants and why they are constantly firing decent DJs. We don't know what goes on behind the scenes, but really this should not matter if what happens on the radio attracts listeners. Frank Dawson must really be doing some major :buttkiss: to outlast so many. I personally don't like him but I've met a lot of people that do and a lot of people that don't. Maybe it's because he works so many extra hours at Ralph's Dodge and other place and other DJs refuse to work so many extra hours.

Seems to me like Moose was working his butt off at the remotes too. I think he's worked every weekend for the last 3 or 4 months. So, he must have asked to cut back remotes. Honestly, they do too many anyway and he should get some time off.

Sounds to me like Frank knows what his bosses want and does that. As far as all the new Dj's being told that they can be as creative as they want, I doubt if any of them had a contract that actually said that. If it ain't in writing it ain't real.
