I, or one< do have a pet snake and would hate to see it dead just as much as any of our other pets.
That being said, if the snake was sunning itself in the street at NIGHT, the snake might have isues anyway.

Bad choice of words; "warming themselves up" would have been better. Snakes are easy to find in the road at night. They like it because the asphalt is still warm from the day's sunlight.
