Unfortunately, there are always a few bad apples in every basket. I don't care what the profession - you will always find those bad apples.

Let's not forget all the Officers that risk their lives to protect us 24 hours a day and not judge all of them because of a few bad ones.

Thankful

I think cops should taser everyone once a day just for preventive measure.

Why is it you see some tasings that drop the guy like a rock, then others where it seems to barely bother them? They drop, but 2 seconds later they're chattering and acting perfectly fine.

I don't know...

...when you get your daily dose, maybe you could ask them? They'll probably give you seconds just for asking.

Well, it apparently didn't hurt this guy too much because he was fine enough to keep arguing with the cop 2 seconds after he was tased. I always thought the tasers the cops used were more potent than your basic dog shock collar.

My BIL, who is a cop, has been tasered twice, once to be qualified to use it and once to become an instructor. He said the first time he only got hit with one prong and it wasn't nearly as bad as both prongs. Maybe the ones you see that can "hold out" longer only got hit with one prong? Or maybe some departments just use a lower voltage model?

...thank God our scofflaw didn't get hurt too much! Maybe we need to replace this slacker cop with someone with REAL respect for the law and shoot them cur dogs who dare question officer 70 in a 65!

The idiot deserved it! You don't sass the popo. I'm glad they now have Tasers and don't have to revert to the hickory shampoo.

:fixed:

Watch the film again from the start, not from the tasing.

I watched it several times, that cop becomes enraged about 3 seconds into the converstion, this guy obvisously isn't the type of person that should be a cop. Not unless you want a bunch of Drew Petersons patrolling the roads.

...what is on this video is abuse of authority. Just so you know what it looks like. That is not police work, that is thuggery. He's an insult to good cops.

No...

Too bad that guy didn't get tasered.

...even that guy didn't deserve to tased or shot or put in a body bag. He was speeding, he got a ticket, he got upset. Time was in this country that sticks and stones would break bones and words were just words, especially between strangers. Now, you ask a cop why you're getting a ticket and you get assaulted.

That nut job was free to lose his mind. At no time did he assault the officer. He stepped right up to the edge when he snatched the ticket, but, still, what should a cop do, lock some guy up because he grabbed a ticket out of his hand?

I love cops. They do a tough job. Most of them do it right; serve and protect. Some of them are little more than storm troopers who don't have the courage or discipline to control themselves, or the situation, and they don't deserve to wear the badge.

The crazy guy was in 1992. Today, would he have been tased? In 1992, it was funny and the guy made an azz of himself for everyone to see and we're all better for it and the cop gets a huge pat on the back and an honor to the job. In 2007, maybe it never gets that far and the cop is on the web zapping the crap out of some poor, stupid bastard who is now the victim having never been a threat to anyone save a few words.

...and you don't antagonize a cop by arguing with him and ignoring his direction by continuing to talk on the phone....

Thug or not, he has lethal force on his hip and he showed great restraint by not using greater force than a throttled-down taser. The dude provoked the outcome just like the idiot who baited the cop while videotaping his suspicious activities in K.C. a few months ago. Don't sass the cops.
