Are you an f'ing moron? You want someone who could be impaired working on a multi-billion $$ aircraft? If the pilot in that seat was your brother, would you feel differently? Or that UAV that crashes into a school due to a floor-worker's mistake?

I was just joking lighten up LOL, actually in this thread I said the exact same thing you just said. I was just curious on looking up info on cotton swab for drug test, I never heard of a cotton swab test and the site I was looking at was saying how to beat it, and how it is not all that effective.

Yeah, the mouth is only good for 72 hours at best. I think Its an attempt to show if you are actually under the influence or not.
Regardless, I still feel like an ass for all this, I really need to learn when to shut the #### up!

I bet if all of PAX/Webster did piss tests there would be a lot of people out of jobs...:killingme

That is sad, it really is. :ohwell:

Maybe it is just me, but I think when the job you do is in support of our military, it's not too much to ask to stay off the illegal substances.

So that makes it alright to continue when you are a contractor?

Look, Im sorry for whatever feelings of resentment you may have over any of this. Think whatever you want of me. The only thing I regret is my original tirade and if Ive screwed anyone over in the process.

Its only because the "random" drug tests never happen at all.

It's kind of a shame that there needs to be drug tests in the first place. Not to get on a soap box and pontificate, and I know the reality, most folks just look at their job as a job and put very little thought or emphasis on the fact that what they do, as menial as it may seem, has a direct effect on our guys and girls in the military. I mean really. You get a bunch of apathetic stoners dragging ass in to work and doing a half ass job, that has an impact. With time, with money, with quality of work..... I certainly wouldn't want to be flying an aircraft that was repaired by someone who wasn't 100% when they were doing their work ya know?

I dunno, maybe I am just grumpy today.

No you're fine. Tomcatter is a remorseless putz who deserved to lose his job. People are much safer now that this pothead is no longer employed there.

Dosent sound grumpy to me, You have a strong and valid point.I can attest to the work of those who are not 100%. Im sorry if you disagree, however, the problem remains that you cannot show the level of impairment (at that moment in time) with a drug test as you can with say, a breathalizer. I could try to explain that correlation however most are either unwilling or too engrained in the paradigm of marijuana myths we have been fed since we were children...

I don't believe I am too engrained in the paradigm of marijuana myths. My view on the use of marijuana is through a lifetime of being around regular pot smokers. They all argue that it is benign, and quite possibly it is, health wise, however, pot stunts mental growth. I don't know a single person who smokes pot on a regular basis that does not have a skewed sense of reality and stunted motivation. There is no motivation to be more, or do better. There is also a strong tendency towards victimhood.

I honestly really don't care what people do on their free time, but the fact of the matter is, when you choose to take a job that requires that you don't partake in illegal drugs, you just don't do it. Or if you do, you can't complain about the consequences of getting caught. It's the same with someone who has a CDL license. If they get a DUI, even outside of work, then they likely will lose their CDL license. It doesn't matter if it wasn't on the job.

Anyway, I digress. I just don't think that a company is asking too much from an employee when they are required not to use illegal substances.
