Another Reason for Legalization

Nope, not sayin' that at all. That depends on the person. If someone is going to go all out on drugs, it doesn't matter if they start with weed or whatever else. Most of the dope smokers I know smoked cigarettes first. Should we say tobacco is a gateway drug?

Pot is not a gateway drug. Trust me on this. There is truely no comparison beteen weed and coke, heroin, lsd, pcp ecstasy etc. No comparison whatsoever, except that they are all illegal. I hear MANY more alcohol related crimes vs. pot related ones.

You don't read as many crime reports as I do then. I think illegal may be the key word though. Because drugs of any kind are illegal crimes are committed to support the use of them. Anyone of legal age can buy alcohol. And for the record I am not for making drug use legal but I might be open minded to its use as medication should it ever be proven to me it works.

Drugs will always be the downfall of many that seek escape from reality just like many use alcohol for pleasure. But that shouldn't be the focus of the discussion. The question as I see it is one concerning the benefit of marihuana in the treatment of alzheimer's. Any illness that can be minimized should be, if a doctor prescribes the drug as a treatment it should be allowed. Morphine, one of the many opiates like heroin, is used for medicinal purposes but it is not legal on the streets and pot should be treated the same.

This is my observation as well. I've never seen a pothead get violent - they tend to get mellow and laugh. You know how "tequila makes her clothes fall off"? Well, I've known a lot of guys where tequila made them want to beat people up and start busting up the place.

When I tended bar, we had several guys who could have beer only because liquor made them stupid and mean.

:yeahthat: The thought of a violent pothead made me laugh. It's an oxymoron.

OK, your motor skills are impared when you're drinking. Should we go ban alcohol now. Oh wait, that's what DUI is for.
I always thought that was a flat argument. Two wrongs don't make a right.

I agree Ken and I also agree with Vrai. I have been on morphine for pain and then was switched to fentanyl patches. Both are prescription meds. Guess what I'm really saying is that modern medicines are always being upgraded/perfected. If a doctor tells me the ONLY med that will help me is maryjane I wouldn't complain, but at the same time I'd want a second opiinion. I am not predisposed to get high but were it the only relief I could get I'm afraid I'd go for it. All it takes is to be on deaths bed one time and find relief, and I don't give a hoot what name may be attached to the relief.

Tell that to some of my ex-buddies.
Maybe they were predispositioned to addiction? You said SOME of your buddies. What about the rest who didn't go on to be hard users?

Yes, that is what I said. Not all of my buddies who smoked turned to other drugs, thank God.

However, some did and I believe that this was a gateway of sorts. I don't believe this addiction is like most other addictions. I don't necessarily think this is a chemical addiction so much as it is an emotional addiction.

You're right ... Only serious crimes I see pot linked to frequentlty is driving infractions and I see more of that caused by that. I'd say, off personal experience, that a beer would have more impact than a few good hits off a bowl.

I see more people being linked to violence whiole they're drunk.

As far as pot being a gateway drug, I don't buy it plain and simple. There's people who have pot and say it's led to wider use of drugs that they'd probably use anyway. Like Vrai said, it's not the pot, it's their system...

Nothing wrong with it - just a waste of taxpayer dollars to fight this "War on Drugs."

Larry,you are so funny! :lmao:

I am for making marijuana legal and taxing it. Just like ciggys, & booze.

Anyone who has the excruciating pain associated with cancer....give it to them!

If there is hope for people with alzheimers, using marijuana, fire it up!

I just had this image of my Mother (she had alzheimers) stoned.
Bless her heart, she was such a sweetie!

:flowers: On your side with this one NP! I have a friend that was diagnosed with a spinal cord disease which is similar to secondary MS and one of her doctors said that Rx Pot could help her with her pain! I think i'd rather see her stoned than popping all those pain killers they give her!

I remember Grandmom firing up half a Salem Light 100 in the bedroom, trailing smoke to the bathroom, and thinking Grandpop couldn't tell she was smoking. Imagine her lighting up a fattie. :jet: She wouldn't have quit at "Condos" and "IUD". :lmao: :lmao:

I wonder if she'd have called me asking that I score her a dime bag on my way over. :tap:

Is it Montel that gets high for his MS? Seems like it is.

I guess

that gives the alzheimer's patients two options:

1. Be out of it b/c you don't remember who you are
2. Be out of it b/c you don't remember who you are

Does "medical" pot contain THC? I guess I could look that up,eh?

THC is the active ingredient in marijuana, without that you might as well smoke your lawn grass...
