I just checked their web site...closest ones are probably Gloucester or Williamsburg, VA.

Now why didn't I think of that? We'll be near W'burg sometime this summer, so I'll get my limeade fix then. Thanks a bunch :)

I love Sonic milkshakes.:yum:
:yeahthat: I like the peanut butter ones, and their hot dogs, and their Frito Pies, and their tots with chili and cheese...I don't think there's a thing on their menu that I dislike...besides onion rings.

They have peanut butter milkshakes? Mmmmmm, that sounds good! Personally, I love their grilled cheese sandwiches too, along with a side of tater tots.

I thought it was just Ross and Old Navy. I had no idea they were adding a Best Buy, Petco, and EB Games. Thats nice.

Speaking of Shopping Centers...
I went to the Food Lion in Solomons the other day for the first time in a month. They're in the midst of remodeling the entire store, upgrading the fixtures, etc.

It's starting to look like the remodeled Safeway in Prince Frederick. Guess that means they're not closing when Lusby Town Center opens...

They're doing that to the Callaway store, too. I wonder if Food Lion is trying to get away from its reputation as a poor person's grocery store. While traveling, I usually see Food Lions and Family Dollars in the same small towns.

Interesting... I was just assuming that the Solomon's FL was afraid of being put out of business by Lusby Town Center.

They'll probably still get put out of business. Lusby residents will go to the town center for convenience, and there's not enough Solomons residents to support a grocery store that size, IMO.

I don't know the Lusby area all that well, I do know where the Town Center is going, how far up the road is it from the Solomons FL about 3-4 miles? I know someone who works for Food Lion, and the Solomons FL is the most profitable FL in the region, followed by the Charlotte Hall one, then the one in downtown Waldorf (925). They do a really good business in SoMd.. Maybe the area can support both of them.

Charlotte Hall store being remodeled also.

Not to be forgotten - Leonardtown Food Lion!! Also under heavy interior reconstruction for a couple of months now. Gotta' hand it to them! They keep the place in pretty good order under the circumstances.

The one in California is a dump and I see no remodeling starting there. It's very dirty. I refuse to go there.

I haven't been there is years. Watching the mice scurry and when I mentioned it to management their response was, "You should see what it's like having to eat lunch in back... That did it for me.

The FL in Solomons has no competetion. I mean, Woodburns is there, and their food is better quality overall, but you pay for it. Most folks in Lusby don't shop there because of the prices. I really think the Solomons FL will be severely hurt by the Lusby Town Center FL, whenever it opens. At the rate they're going, we might see an opening this fall.

Woodburns is the chit though. 'Cept for dog food, and toiletries, I usually go to Woodburns.

Sounds about like the one in La Plata. Thanks God for Safeway!

I don't see places like that coming to St. Mary's for another 20 years or so, if at all. Maybe Waldorf in the next 10 years. Those types of places seem to prefer upscale suburbs.

So why would they come to Waldorf?
Because it's possible that Charles County will become more upscale in the years to come, as commuters continue to move further out from D.C. It's happening now in northern Calvert, at least in terms of residential housing.

Maybe, or the opposite could happen where Waldorf may follow the path of Marlow Heights and Oxon Hill and decline. With crime on the rise in the 'Dorf, how long will it keep an upscale image? It wasn't that long ago when people would head up to Iverson Mall without a care in the world. Now is that place even still open? There are some sections of Waldorf that are starting to mirror what we saw developing in PG County 10-15 years ago.
