Any *really* nice restaurants in St. Mary's?

We moved to California last year and I really don't know about about down here besides finding Target, the grocery store, and the base.

We want to go to a very nice dinner on our anniversary and the nicest place we've found so far is that Japanese place by McKay.

Are there nice romantic places down here? I mean ones within a 30 minute drive.

(I wasn't sure if this should go here or the dating forum. sorry if I'm wrong)

All are great choices.

I'd add to this mix: CD Cafe, the Dry Dock, and The Tides. :yum:

Bon Buffet in Lexington Park.

Yeah uh I was picking my husband up on the base two weeks ago and we thought we'd try a new Chinese place. I usually hate buffets but I gave it a shot because everyone else wanted to go there.

I now refuse to go past McCarther after sundown.

The only place I've heard of so far is China Harbor and that's just from the local commercial.

Thank you for all the replies so far.

Don't blame you for not wanting to drive around any more than necessary in your SUV

Try Morris Point Restaurant. Its small --out of the way, good food ,open on week-ends only ,right on the water.

Got to rt. 234 turn left ,left on 242, left on Abell rd. Left on Morris Point Rd. go till you cant go any more and you're there.

Brohomme Howard - St. Mary's City: Very nice, good food and pricey but worth it.
Tides- Lexington Park: Seems they are getting better every time i go there.

Both can be romantic, it is all what you put into it.

On a starry summer eve, what could be more romantic than eating outside in the quiet little garden setting of Checkers on 235 (diesel fumes and road dust cost extra !)

I drive a VW Passat actually. I even make my 3 kids squish in the back. I refuse to drive a huge freaking car.

Thank you for all great recommendations!

Overpriced and slow service.
