Go Braves!
It would be great if they would just revamp the current theatre we have. The smell of mildew in there is awful.

I realize now that with pay per view and dvds people may not go to the movies as much but wouldnt it be great to get one of those really nice movie theatres down here with the stadium seating and reclining seats..I realize this would be a vast improvement from the dump of a theatre we have now...I mean they are building all this other stuff why not a new movie theatre????????

DO WE!!

That's mildew. I always thought it was urine...

That place is a dump and as long as it's in the Park, and they keep letting the punks hang out there it will always be a dump...

It would be better if they built a theater that was in a
newer shopping center where there was better parking
and lighting. The theater where it's at now is not all
that safe after dark. I wouldn't bring anyone there to
see a movie. Lots of punks, thugs, etc. hanging around
and it doesn't look like the sheriff's department is at all
interested in doing anything about it.

I know a woman who works in the Shopping center during
day there and the parking lot is even full of nasty people
during daylight hours. She said when they call the police
that they are told that there is nothing they can do about
it.

Makes one wonder what the tax money is going for.

St. Mary's Square? Good thing the sheriff substation does some good.

Oh gawd NO! I was thinking maybe out there on 235 at
one of the better shopping areas. I know what you mean
about St. Mary's Square! Almost as bad as where the
theater is now!

It sort of seems that the police and the county in general
have abandoned Lexington Park. Made it their own little
"inner city". It was getting like that even back in the '80s
when I moved out of there. That's part of the reason why
you can't get any good businesses to locate in central
Lexington Park. Congestion and crime.

Again, makes on wonder about the taxes and gov't.

Speaking of movie theaters. I went to see a movie by myself a few weeks back and sat in the middle. I was the 1st one in the theater and before I knew it, everyone was sitting near me. :eyebrow: WTH? In the same row and everything. There was maybe 20 people watching this movie and all of them either sat in my row, behind me or in front of me.

:jameo: I just thought it was rude.

You should have been here when we only had The Park and The Plaza theaters in downtown LP City. :jet:

They sold out a new movie theater so we would have a community swimming pool at GMHS and BJ's could open its doors. Not a good trade, was it? :ohwell:

Hey jazz lady;

I was there when they had both of those theaters.
Even watched a movie at the Park theater before it
closed. I moved to St. Mary's in the early 70's and
moved to Calvert in the mid 80's. Finally moved out
of MD altogether after retiring. Still have family in
SOMD so I go back a few times each year to see
what's going on.

Yeah, the 70's were really cool over there. It's all
built up and full of "up the road people" now.

I spent a few years in my youth living in the heart of Lexington Park. We used to walk everywhere and never gave it a second thought. I have many fond memories of the Plaza and Park theaters. Everyone always wanted to go to the Plaza theater because the seats were more comfortable. We'd even walk to the theater on base for the $.50 movies and go hang out in "The Square" devouring ice cream from Carvel's. Ah, the memories.
