In Virginia, you basically hope the judge is nice and doesn't put you in jail for 10 days. That would be getting it reduced.TruPeace said:IF you been charged with reckless driving in Virginia (Caroline County) and what did you do to get it reduced? experiences?
How reckless were you? Was it on I 95 or a back road?TruPeace said:IF you been charged with reckless driving in Virginia (Caroline County) and what did you do to get it reduced? experiences?
Anything over 15mph over the limit is considered wreckless.Fubar said:How reckless were you? Was it on I 95 or a back road?

Virginia's a Commonwealth-not a state-they make their own rules!CMC122 said:Virginia is way stricter then Maryland is with this kind of stuff.![]()
In Virginia, reckless driving tickets can be issued for 14 different types of driving behavior. A reckless driving conviction can result in either a misdemeanor or felony conviction. Most people who are charged with this offense don't realize that reckless driving is a criminal act and therefore can result in an actual jail term in addition to a loss of driving privileges and high fines.cattitude said:Get an attorney.

I know I was in the wrong and I told the judge I was in the wrong, but I also told him I had just come off of I-95 and you know if you not doing at least 70 you'll get run down. Any way the judge looked at my driving record that I got from MD MVA with seal (get yours, it will help). He decided to give me a fine and I had to do a driving course (on-line) and pass and send the cert. to the court house. Also points do NOT transfer from other states to MD according to the MVA. But if you move to that state and get a new license those points will show up. Also other states keep records and if you get pulled over the judge will have those records too so don't lie when they ask when was the last time you got a ticket. If you don't know tell them you don't know. Now you may want to check with your insurance and see what they will do to you if your convicted, they may drop you so you may want to get a lawyer and fight it. Good luck.

Can points be assessed against my Maryland driver record if I am convicted of a vehicle-related violation in another state?
Yes. If you are convicted of a vehicle-related offense in a jurisdiction outside of Maryland, the MVA may assess points. The Driver License Compact, to which Maryland is a signatory, guides the MVA's actions. The types of out-of-state violations for which points may be assessed in Maryland include:
Alcohol or drug related offenses;
Leaving the scene of a personal injury accident;
Homicide or manslaughter involving a vehicle;
Use of a motor vehicle in the commission of a felony.
