Are You Emotionally Strong?

Agree with some of the list, but not all. "They don't do what they don't want to do." Don't agree with that statement, we all do things we don't want to do everyday. Part of life.

# 12. for me. Its kinda open ended. Since I can say no to things like drugs, alcohol, stealing without blinking ...but not to most Mom can yous? Deb would yous? I'm a sucker for helping. I don't feel that weakens me as a person though.

So I have to say I'm strong with some weak spots. :)

I can agree with a lot of things on this list, but I feel like a lot of people will read this and wrongly consider themselves an emotionaly strong person. To simply put it, almost everyone I know claims they "don't put up with bull####", or they don't care if they fit in or not, but everyday, they actually do and just don't want to admit it. I find myself claiming I don't do bull#### all the time. But there are times where I do put up with it a little. There's always certain circumstances and exceptions that everyone makes. I don't know as if I'd want to be a 100% completely emotionally strong person.

As I read through it, on several pointers I found I was always almost there, but just not quite. I'm ok with that. To me, that means I'm no doormat, but I'm still a very kind and empathetic person. It also makes me realize I've come a long way.

6. They Don’t Act Like Bitches Or Assh*les

People are mean. But we wonder, why? Being a jerk is only good as an intimidation factor, and if you’re trying to intimidate people, then you better be a negotiator by profession; if you’re intimidating just for the sake of it, you’re obviously overcompensating for a lack of confidence. Do you also drive a very large automobile, perhaps? I hear they make pills for that.

10. They’re Not Afraid Of Slowing Down

Emotionally strong people aren’t in need of constant action and excitement. They don’t need to run around all day and keep moving in order to avoid their demons. They appreciate a slow moment because it brings them closer to what it feels like to do nothing but living, breathing. This is not to say that they don’t enjoy excitement in their lives, but they aren’t junkies and are more than happy to just go for a walk and smell the roses.

14. They Don’t Feel The Need To Fit In

The stronger you are emotionally, the more independent you become. You don’t feel the need to fit in because you fit in where it matters: the world. People form smaller social groups that are often skewed and unhealthy. Wanting to fit in doesn’t say much more than “I’m afraid to be myself.”
