At&t

I've had AT&T cell service for about 2.5 years now. Usually, the service is great but lately I can't even get through a 5 minute conversation at my house in Piney Point or up and down Route 5.

I chatted with them to compain and they offered me a $200 credit to my bill and offered up a solution of a microcell tower. When hooked up with DSL, the microcell tower would act as it's own mini cell tower.

Anyone have any experience with the microcell? Or should I just switch to Verizon? :ohwell:

No clue but I have been having the same issue this past week.

You have AT&T too?

Yep. On three phones. This past week I have had 8 droped calls. Six times my calls never went through and had to continuously redial. Pissed doesn't quite cover my cussing spree.

Exactly. I was ready to throw the damn phone. It's not usually this bad.

Call and complain. That's what I did. They said they didn't show any outages in this area but maybe if enough people call and complain they'll look into it. They offered me a $200 credit when I told them I'd look into other providers for service since my contract was up.

Thanks for heads up. I will call. It is insanely frustrating.

Just got off the phone with them and the rep stated:

If there are more people in your area that are having the same issues, (dropped calls, calls not going through, etc) please have them call in and report it. The more calls we have in a specific area covering issues, the more likely it will be that someone gets out there faster to fix the problem.

We have always had that issue.....and we live less than half a mile from one of their towers! Some days our phones will show 4G, some days 3G, some days Edge. I actually got better service at the house when I had T-Mobile.

....Only 3.5 months before I can ditch this phone and At&t....

When I moved to Ridge from Leonardtown I had AT&T and no service once I passed St Mary's College. I had to switch to Verizon.

Extremely. Especially because I use my cell phone as my house phone.

Same here. We don't get good service in Wildewood. Phone calls are a joke and text messages are often delayed unless we're iMessaging over wifi. It's better than it used to be, oddly.

We considered switching to Verizon but we'd have to give up the unlimited data that we were grandfathered into with At&t. We looked at the numbers and would have to pay for the larger tier with Verizon and decided it wasn't worth it. Our friends with Verizon seem to have similar troubles depending on their locations, too.

Maybe it's a weather thing lately, then? I don't konw. I just know I want to hold a conversation without every other sentence being "Can you hear me".

That's a good point. We are supposedly having an increase in solar flares.

I'm dumb to all this stuff.

Do you know when we won't be having these flares anymore? :coffee:

Hmmm....I looked up NASA and they say this:
NASA has already issued warnings that the sun will reach its most active period of its 11-year cycle this year and into 2014. However, solar flares could continue well into 2020.
