Do you know if they will do just a plain cake? I like Wildewood but I don't want the cream in the middle. I am going in today after work to talk to someone. I have a feeling the girl I spoke with didn't know a whole lot.

I'm not sure. My mother in law recommended her. Old family friend or something like that. It's been awhile. Sorry to be so vague

Our top layer (for 1st anniversary) was carrot cake, then the second and third layers where white or yellow

Bummer was, our freezer went out before 1st anniversary and we lost our 1st anniversary cake. :frown:

My sister-n-law wanted Isabelle to do her cake, she met with her one time and Isabelle asked her to keep in touch. Isabelle never returned any of her phone calls, so my sis-n-law went with somebody else. Guess who shows up the day of the wedding with a cake? Keep in my mind my sis-n-law only met with her once and Isabelle didn't know exactly what she wanted! Maybe this was just a one time thing w/her, but I'd say be careful!!

Plain as in what? Such as a flavor or decoration wise?? Yea when I first called too...the girl who answered the phone did not know much either.
My cake is one of those on the site, but, I cleared ALL decorations off...I want it very very plain looking, because its gonna have fresh edible flowers on it.
www.wildewoodpastryshop.com is the website.

No I wanted just plain cake, no filling. I tried the link and the site was down. I want just a plain 4 teared cake with some decoration and fresh flowers. I think I will get more answers when I go in.

I understand what you are saying. And what I am saying is, that you dont have to have a filling. I NEVER once asked for a filling. And they were NEVER told me I HAD to. So...you should be in luck.

See when I called yesterday, the girl said I did. I asked her if I could not have a filling and she said no but I could choose any flavor. Who knows? I will find out. Did they give you a price per serving?

Dang, you lucked out!! Mine is a reasonable price, $1.90/slice, but when you have 300 guests the prices gets up there REALLLL quick, lol!

Well, if I use Wildewood...they are not putting a filling in mine of any sort. Because of the exact reasoning. I dont want it to slide. Because it will still be hot. Ya know? Mine is just gonna be a devil's food cake with buttercream whipped on top (I dont like icing)

Now, I also, got a name yesterday of a cake person, who did this cake I saw in a picture while at the olde breton inn yesterday. It was the exact one I wanted. Her name is Isabelle Williams. she is loacated in the phone book I believe from what Patsy told me, under Donnie Williams...So you can give it a try.

Isabelle Williams does awesome cakes! She's not board certified, though.

Her daughter done my cake and done an awesome job!! The only thing that she did not do that I requested was the cake topper. We bought a water globe and asked if it was going to be to heavy and she said, "no." But it was not put on my cake. Just sat a side next to the cake. But it still looked awesome. It was heart shaped and 3 tier. My aunt made a grooms cake and it was wonderful to. (husbands b-day is the day after we got married so she made the cake for that to)

well, excuse me. I was just pointing that out because I thought Lauren intended that bit of info for jeneisen, who IS looking for a cake baker still and specified that bit of info.

I think the other 2 pages have given her ideas. And ones that don't have to have a "Certified" other options to. There are more than her that are getting married. Aren't they not entitled to hear other options???

But what no one seems to understand...is that, it was a reply to me....she could just simply read that. That is all I am saying. Nothing was meant by it.

Quick Question

Jen, where is your reception being held? I have never heard of having your cake board certified. Is this something new? Is it in the actual contract or some strange rule because the reception provider wants you to have a cake made by them? I would think if it's an actual requirement they would be able to provide you with a list of acceptable cake makers.
