I thought in Chuck County you were no longer allowed to smoke in rest.???? I have severe asthma just being around smoke does make me wheeze. So am I to jump in my bubble before I enter a store or rest? I guess I have to buy a new car or SUV to fit my bubble in. I guess you can tell which way I voted.

You have a bubble???

I had lunch with friends at Applebees yeaterday...
I dont smoke and but they are eldery and both asthmatic.
Folks were smoking in the "smoking section".
I noticed it, but said nothing, but my friend was bothered..so I offered to leave adn go to another resturant where there was no smoking.
He declined and we finished lunch...as the smokers (3 of them) had all ready left.

I dont object to the smokers, but I wish they had a totally glassed in smokers area so older folk with health issues could enjoy a nice time out.

The smoking area at Applebees is in a partially closed in area...does not make sense...

I did vote that smoking should be banned....as there are so many non smokers now...so in a way..majority rules...

As for smoking in outside public places..why not..you are outside!

Comes down to being considerate and polite to others.

So, your idea of being considerate is forcing people to stand in the elements instead of going to a restaurant that doesn't allow smoking. Got ya'.

or you could just get a hold of your addiction long enough to not smoke while you are in the restaraunt, it usually isnt any longer than an hour anyway

No..they can go smoke inside their car, or in a sheltered area...and no one is forcing anyone mAlice.
Being considerate is a personal choice, and if you dont wnat to be considerate, do so, your choice.

Dont get upset if some dog chooses to pee on your leg instead of a tree.
No one forced the dog, it just decided to pee where it wanted to.

That's in the "Outdoor Recreation" section.

URGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!! It is driving me nuts. Smokers, be considerate, while I eat. Oh wait, I don't like smoke, so let's ban smoking everywhere. Oh wait, outside is not enough because you are too close to the door and I might have to sniff it. Let's close them into a glass room so I don't have to smell it because of my health issues. Better yet, go sit in your car and be out of public view because you are a menace to society.

Oh wait, the restaurant business complains to the representatives to not ban smoking because they will lose business. It is a friggin endless circle.

It is not about rights, it is about choices. If the non-smoker does not like the environment of an eating establishment why do they go there? Choose to go elsewhere. You do not have a RIGHT to eat anywhere, you have a choice. If you want to use the argument you have a RIGHT to eat there, then I will use the argument that I have a RIGHT to smoke there. So whose rights is more important, yours or mine?

Why do the representatives have to say, all restaurants and bars shall be smoke-free. Should it not be up to the OWNER of the establishment to determine how he/she runs the business. (oh god, I wrote he/she so I would not offend anyone) I thought this was America. When the government is telling business how to operate, we are in a bad situation. Provide handicap access, you bet. Provide equal seating for all races, you bet. Provide portions for children and seniors, you bet. BUT to say, you will be smoke-free, what is next? Oh yea, you will be smoke free and only open between noon and 6 pm.

It is my choice to smoke because I find pleasure in it. Go ahead, all you doctors without a degree, tell me I have an addiction and I am a bad person in society. My smoking is not nor ever will be meant to do nothing but bring me the satisfaction I desire.

So I will ask this plain and simple, why is it ME, the smoker that has to change because of someone else. Why is it you can impose your beliefs and behaviours on me and I am to accept them. Do not give me this second-hand smoke crap. Someone please provide me the statistics on the all the stewardesses that died from lung cancer as a result of all the smoking on airplanes for all those years. Show me the scientific evidence to make me a believer.

If you are that fragile that the smoke bothers you, why do you go there? Uhmm, maybe the simple solution is to provide you a filter, a face mask so your health issue will not be affected. It could have a velcro pocket on it, so you can open it and put the food in your mouth. Then close it back up.

Oh by the way, I am glad to see them attack the salt content now. When they take the salt-shaker away from the restaurant table because it is bad for your health, you better not complain.

Yes, I am angry and you may accuse me of issues. You have health problems and purposely put yourself in an environment that bothers you, why is that? That is a choice not a right.

Uhmm, maybe I need to get direct TV so I can watch the game afterall. Smiling.

By the way, there was nothing personal towards anyone person, it is about the whole concept of people and government dictating to ME what I can do and cannot do if I abide by the laws.

AS a smoker, I will not smoke in doors, even in my own house. It stinks and others should not have to suffer for my smelly habit. I would also expect the same of other people with nasty stinky habits or other smokers.

You're a good person. I was the same way when I still smoked. If there were more smokers like you, the smoking ban would've never come about.

This post just can't continue any longer without some input from the beatiful bird named Blue....

I posted a thread a few weeks ago to all the ignorant smokers and it received several responses. I learned alot while reading this thread. I learned that there are alot of ignorant smokers here in SOMD becauses if there weren't than none of the smokers would have responded to my thread. :lmao:

Anyhoo.... I also learned that smoking doesn't cause cancer, asthma, allergies, decreased lung capacity, emphysema or low birth weight. I also found it interesting that most of the smokers who weighed in touted that smoking is an enjoyable experience and that they could stop at anytime but simply keep doing it because its so enjoyable.

I agree it sure looks enjoyable, I watched an attractive woman smoking what appeared to a virginia slim on her break at work. She appeared to be relaxed and made smoking look attractive (maybe I have some sort of smoking fetish). I decided it was time to give smoking a shot... I started smoking 9 days ago and I love it! I figured I would start off with something light and so I purchased a carton of Marlboro Lights. I was getting an awful headrush at first but that went away after a few days. Now every 20-30 minutes I go light up outside and it feels great! I enjoy smoking and watching the birds fly around. This is when I was reborn into a bird named Blue. I'm more relaxed now. I can eat at restaurants and bars and the smoking doesn't bother me at all. My wife says my breath smells bad and that I smell like an ashtray after finishing a relaxing smoke but who cares. I'm relaxed and happy... I think she'll come around in a few more weeks. I finally got her to take a few drags with me the other night and she said it wasn't bad. I'm only up to about 10 cigarettes a day but I'm hoping to get up to a full pack by January. Anyone know a good place to buy cigarettes at a cheaper price?

I agree

Ok, I was in a restaurant yesterday and I was in the non smoking section and I could still smell the smoke. It drove me crazy. I admit I hate all smokers, but if I am trying to eat, why can't people go outside to smoke? I mean its considered rude to blow your nose or pick it at the table but that doesn't kill or hurt anyone else. Why is it ok to smoke in restaurants? Does anyone else feel this way?

I am sick of smelling smoke and having to worry about health risk when I do not smoke. If a person wants to smoke do it outside or in your own home. It is unfair to cause harm to people who may have medical problems, or to babies. I can not wait until they ban smoking at restaurants, then I can go to more places!!

I am looking forward to the increased percentage of non-smokers that get a DUI. All the smokers will be at home, smoking. Thanks guys, you will be helping the economy, you just don't know it yet.
