I had that problem myself once a few years ago.

I mocked up a mailbox out of cardboard and put a kitchen trash bag (think giant water balloon) filled with paint inside.

I found the little bastards too!

Good plan. How long did you not receive mail for, though? :lmao:

Lowes, and I'm sure others, sell a very sturdy steel mailbox. It's about $50, I think, but you won't have to worry about it being dinged up. I also think it might tingle a bit when hit just right with an aluminum bat. :lmao:

Oh, the cardboard mailbox was in front of the real mailbox. Mailman never missed a beat. :yay:

My boss once filled his mail box with concrete. He was charged with simple assault though because the little prick broke his wrist. The judge threw the charge out, but still...

I have heard this before... that if you reinforce your mailbox or mailbox post knowing it would cause harm, you could be held liable should someone get injured or their vehicle get damaged.

There's a school just south of Montross VA on Rt.3 that has their mailbox caged with 1/2" rebar. Think they might have had a similar problem

Yeah, he still had to go to court. So to file the assault charge wouldn't the kid have to admit vandalism?

Plus they drove on the wrong side of the road to do this. Usually the boxes are bashed on the right side of them. This time it is on the left. I live on North bound Rt. 5. Idiots!

P.S. Thanks for all of the suggestions. I will be purchasing a steel mailbox tomorrow. :yay:

 I dunno. When he told the story we were focused more on the little rat breaking his wrist. :lmao:

Before I got the good mailbox I had a 4X4 planted in front of it. In the strike zone I should say.

I was thinking along the lines of reactive armor at first, but I was pretty sure that would get me in trouble. :lmao:
I guess paint in a bag is reactive....just not what I was considering.
