I was thinking along the lines of reactive armor at first, but I was pretty sure that would get me in trouble. :lmao:
I guess paint in a bag is reactive....just not what I was considering.

:lmao:

Once upon a time, in my younger days...........I picked up a bunch of large blue stones form the side of the road and while my buddy drove, I threw them at mailboxes. It knocked them clean off the pole. :killingme

bashproof mail box

If they can cover the pentagon with linex and it is bomb proof or something like that. Take it down to decker linex and have them spray it. It would get bashed but wouldn't break. Maybe you want to try tpo make one out of 1/2 inch diamond plate for that industrial look.

another idea

I have seen a mailbox with poles on each side to protect it on rt 244. They used to have problems with bashers.

Actually that is a pretty good idea. Foreign embassies have been using this type of material on there walls for years in order to contain debris during a bomb blast.

$50....Lowes. Or get a 4x4 and sink it just to the right of the mailbox as you face it.
Run bolts thru the bottom of the new box and then make a cardboard form with about an inch of space around the new box. Fill the form with QUIKRETE, let it dry (sets in about 30 min) then re-mount the box.

All you need to protect is the sides, no need to cover the front or back. Just fill the form to the front edge. I would cover the bottom to add a little structural integerity.

They still do. :ohwell: My big problem seems to be with the snow plows and mowers. Four mailboxes in four years.

P.S. Thanks for all of the suggestions. I will be purchasing a steel mailbox tomorrow. :yay:

Good idea. :yay: We had the same problem for years. Our mailbox would take a hit a couple times a year. Bought a heavy duty one from Lowes and solved the problem. They're really not that expensive.

I had that problem myself once a few years ago.

I mocked up a mailbox out of cardboard and put a kitchen trash bag (think giant water balloon) filled with paint inside.

I found the little bastards too!

:lmao:
lol that's a good one
