Big age gap between children/siblings?

For those of you who have big age gaps between your children how did you & your older children adjust to having a baby?

In our case we would have at the least a 7 year age difference. I wanted to have children fairly close in age so they could grow up together but God had other plans for us.

My dad and stepmom waited until I was 12 to have a child together. My mom and stepdad waited until I was 15 to have one. I turned into a biatch! I was a spoiled little biatch. They all showered me with gifts to make up for the life change. It did me NO good. I just walked all over them. I got everything I ever wanted except for a car and that's because I was a little alkie. Hopefully you will not have these same issues. I am embarassed of the way I treated my parents. Luckily I have great relationships with them now.

There is a 17 year age difference between me and my youngest sibling. I didn't have a problem w/it.

I also have siblings that are 8, 9 & 12 years younger than me. We're all pretty close. Growing up I picked on them but that's what siblings are supposed to do.

we dont talk, never have, dont really expect we ever will, tried it once, didnt turn out well.

My sister and I who are 2 years apart have always got along.

My kids are 5 years apart and the older one has never gotten over being jealous of the younger (they are both teenagers right now). I don't know if that is age or personality. Boy/girl. My sister is 11 years older then me and she and I didn't have any kind of relationship until I was 16. My brother is 6 years older and we had a typical big brother/little sister type relationship (he picked/protected - I tattled). LOL

There is six of us....all girls. Poor dad. Even the dog was a female. We had a major testosterone imbalance in our house.

No, I am not pregnant.

However, SoMDgirl is partially responsible for planting the seed that has stirred the desire for another child.

That's what I would hope for if we have another child. I want my son to have someone other than us to share his childhood with. I can't imagine growing up without siblings.

My husband & I would not tolerate that type of behavior from our son. Your parents did you a huge disservice by spoiling you instead of telling you to get a grip. I'm glad you have at least realized the error in your ways & have a decent relationship with your parents.
