yep a law suite , only good if they have something and will take years to collect if you can collect, trust me, been there, failure to yeild right of way, or fail to reduce spped to avoid collision, 3 or 5 points either way, no amount of money is worth the suffering he will do,

Yeah he's gonna suffer, big time. Sorry about your experience.

I hate reading these stories, but they must be told. I've been riding for only 4 years and I try to be as defensive as I can. I always have my padded pants, full face helmet, leathers, gloves, and boots on. Even with all that on it doesn't keep me from being hit by some stupid teenager, grandma, or drunk who doesn't respect driving.

I moved to Houston TX last August and have only been on my bike once because of the poor road planing and traffic. I can't wait to get to MD in July with my bike where the traffic is a lot less and there are back roads to ride. Riding to work I will have to go over the bridge, and hopefully the wind doesn't gust you off the road, but still it will be better then Houston.

Raise the driving age or ban cell phones from teens in cars. Even my closest friends get yelled at by me for yacking and driving at the same time.

The bicyclist who was killed last night on Dalrymple Road was Travon Holloway, who graduated from Huntingtown last year.
Was it a motorcycle or bicycle?

My mistake. By now you all probably know it was a motorcycle. When my friend initially told me she was very upset. Sorry for the misinformation.

True, but odds are a lot better. It also helps to have a real car wrapped around you, instead of driving around in a tuna can.

Bike crash in Mechanics... 05-12-2007 08:38 PM you don't drive your tuna can anymore?

I may not drive the safest car on the road, but it's no where near the worst. I've seen plenty of pictures of my model car wrecked (wreckedexotics.com) Rarely do the pics show a damaged #### pit. In addition to the air bags, I also have roll bars.

One of those almost got me last year. Teen with cell and car. Dangerous combination. On my bike and she pulled out in front of me with the cell phone slammed to her head on the left side. Obviously she didn't see me coming from her left. I swerved around her on her right side, and passed her. She proceeded to yell at me and make finger motions. At the stop light I pulled along side and told her she almost ended my life with her cell phone and car. Didn't phase her a bit. So I guess if she killed someone for real with her car it won't be a big deal either.

FYI to all with teen drivers....

The Calvert County Traffic Safety Council is sponsoring the County’s 7 th teen defensive driving clinic. The next New Driver Car Control Clinic will be held during the weekend of June 1, at Calvert High School . This popular behind-the-wheel Clinic focuses on teaching parents and teens critical accident-avoidance maneuvers and defensive-driving skills such as

· eye management - judging spatial relationships

· steering management - making the car go precisely where you want it to, even in an emergency and

· brake management - the so-called panic stop without the panic.

The exercises are performed in a series of cone patterns in the family's own car on both wet and dry pavement.

The Friday night, classroom session will be held in the cafeteria between 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Registered attendees may choose from one of the four available behind-the-wheel driving sessions that occur on either Saturday or Sunday. The cost of the class is only $159.00, and attendees should have at least a learner’s permit, and be comfortable making basic driving maneuvers. Parents must attend with their teen. Additional information and online registration is available at www.carcontrol.com . If you have questions, please email Debbie Jennings at jennindk@co.cal.md.us ; or contact the Calvert County Traffic Safety Council at 410 535-2200.

Still in ICU and they haven't moved him to Baltimore yet because they can't keep him stabilized. That is all I know at this point.

Very sobering. :ohwell:
