Billionaire Trump can't come up with $464 million for bond

This isn't bail dummy.

It is a fine he has been found liable for.

If he wants to appeal he must put up the full amount first.

Are you saying no one can ever be fined more than $464 million?

How is $464 million cruel and unusual for a multibillionaire?
Should it matter what he's worth if the fine is ridicules and he committed no crime? Obviously white trash such as yourself doesn't own anything and doesn't understand RE taxes.

Curious - who is this fine going to benefit? The City of New York? Because there are no aggrieved parties. It has to be some bastardization of a law where a man is forced to sell off his assets or have them seized - and no one was injured by his actions.

But here's why I ask --

Would YOU want to continue to do business in New York - if this kind of crap can be done?

Kathy Hochul has assured NYC business owners that they won't be targeted in this manner - just Trump.

I'm not making that up:

But did she assure home owners that they won't be targeted when they go for a home equity loan and claim their house is worth X, but the local DA decides it is worth Y?

They'll use the threat of doing it to others to squeeze them for DNC contributions.

Payola to stay in Democrats good graces.

Musk, Bezos and other lesser Billionaries will be the Democrats new PiggyBank.

Ah, but the words, they have room to grow...

“By and large, they are honest people"

New Yorkers who are business people have nothing to worry about, because they’re very different than Donald Trump and his behavior,”

So, if We (that is indeed the royal We) have decided you have been dishonest and or "Trumplike" meaning you challenge us and our regime, then of course we will do the exact same thing to you.

And I think this has a part to play in why 30 institutions turned him down. By giving him the money, they leave themselves and their investors open to being prosecuted in exactly the same way. Why didn't anyone defend the accused at the Salem witch trials?

"Bob, can we loan this to Trump?
"Fred, accounting and legal looked at it. Do you know exactly how many real estate transactions we did in the last 10 years?
"Crap, I dunno, tens of thousands?"
"More, and more importantly, do you know how much outside information we received on valuations other than our own people?"
"None, that's why we have people, right? "
"Exactly. We can be accused of doing exactly what he did, and there's literally no defense. "
"Crap!"

Exactly - the "news lite" outlets are trying to make it look like it's because Trump is so awful they don't want to help him.

But it's more like Democrat machine and snitches get stitches. No one wants to put up the bond knowing that the current court could maneuver in such a way so they STILL lose all their money. They don't trust the court.

STILL think this bodes badly for businesses in New York. And I can't see how a law and a prosecutor can go after a single person, searching for a crime and making up numbers just to hurt him. Or how a governor can wave it off and say, no no no, this is just Trump, no one else.

You better believe if this works, it will be exported to every Democrat run state out there, then, if they still control the bureaucracies, justice department and courts, attempted at the federal level.

This is what I don't get --

There's no doubt in my mind that ANY lending institution worth its salt would ALWAYS ASSESS any property it is lending money, against. It is never going to be just - YOUR WORD. So any bank WOULD HAVE done their own assessment. Without direct knowledge, I have to think they DID, and decided, yep, let's lend him the money. Even if they thought, yeah, overvalued - they knew he'd be good for it, and they would make money.

I'd also hazard a guess that lending institutions do THIS, also, all the time. You know - look at it - you say it's worth 500, I say 350 - but I also know you have a perfect record in paying back and you won't default, so who are we to fuss? Loan granted.

ALONG comes an attorney and says, oh no - you overvalued this to get a loan. And BOTH THE BANK and the lendee say - so the hell what? We are BOTH OK with it.

So yeah - if I make deals like this all the time - and the bank does too -

It IS TIME to get the hell out of Dodge. Because if the courts can exploit weird laws to intervene on your normal lending operations, you'd better leave.

The New York State general fund.
The other is - the cost for an appeal. Ya gotta put up the money for an appeal.
Ok, how much? Based on what?
Based on more than you have. Sorry. You lose.

A pundit on TV said, years ago, this is how they screwed African Americans - jack the costs so they couldn't fight back, and they'd lose their property.

You don't have to love Trump to know - this is disgraceful.
