At rush hour on Dec. 7 1993, Colin Ferguson boarded New York's Long Island Rail Road. As the train headed for the suburbs, the Jamaican immigrant opened fire into a carload of 90 commuters with a 9-mm Ruger semiautomatic handgun. Six died; 19 were wounded. At the time of his arrest, Ferguson had in his pockets notes voicing hatred of whites, Asians and "Uncle Tom Negroes." He had a long history of angry run-ins with whites. In an earlier incident, he yelled at his perceived enemies, "Black rage will get you!"

Nope, nothing for me to apologize for. Can you explain what I personally did wrong that I should apologize for? From the looks of things, the atrocities going on in places like Chad and Darfor far surpass anything done in this country with respect to slavery. Should they apologize for the genocide currently going on? Sort of like, "Hey, sorry for wiping out your tribe. Now that I apologized, we straight, right?" Crap, you can't even apologize or make amends to your son for abandoning him. Too late for your ex-wife. Just where do you get off saying I should apologize or make amends for ANYTHING!

I'm willing to bet their isn't a single American of African decent willing to move back to Africa because it's so much better there. There is no welfare, social services, special education programs, MLB, NFL, MBA, free medical, no sports advantages, section 8 housing, tax rebates, or 24" rims. In Africa you try and pull the crap that happens here and you're dead or in a field eating grass next to your hut. I think a thank you is in order, not an apology...

Well with me as part of St. Mary's County then we whites could apologize for our part in the African slavery, and the later denial of their civil rights, and for the still lingering racism of the ignorant white bigots.
Then we could make amends by offering up the evil white memorial of Sotterley Plantation for a bon-fire (legally of course) and then use the land for a school or a real History museum or as a public park, instead of keeping it as the present white racist memorial.
This is just suggestions as the details would need worked out.

We did. We outlawed the importation of slaves, and then the slavery itself, and then passed many, many laws against any kind of discrimination, and then passed laws mandating discrimination against white people (affirmative action). As for lingering racism and bigots, well, those exist of every color and every race. That's part of America - the right to be stupid (something you celebrate every minute of every day).
While I'm sure your intentions are honorable, this would be a very bad idea. People need reminders of the past - the good and the bad. You live your life trying to either hide your bad parts of your past, or pretending they're things to be proud of. That's not a healthy way for a person, a county, or a country to handle their past. We need to honor the good parts, and have reminders of the bad parts. As A WHITE person, I would like to apologize on behalf of the entire whitey population for any/all wrongs that were done directly onto you. Such as slavery/segregation/lynching and the like.
