Ok, here's my 2 pennies on the whole Imus deal. First, I can't stand him and it even got worse when he supported John Kerry....... but

What he said was in humor. Know what I do when Chris Rock or any other black comdedian dogs white people? I laugh my ASS off. Just seems like it's a one way street when it comes to humor sometimes.
That's why I like Dave Chappelle, he makes funof EVERYBODY... as it should be. But you don't see (or at least I can't think of any) white comedians able to make fun of everybody.

All that being said.... knowing all of this.... he shouldn't have said that on the airwaves because of the simple fact that he should have known the poopstorm he was going to start. Now, the libs will be hollering to enact the fairness doctrine even more.

P.S. I hope nobody on here starts calling me racist because my beliefs ARE that everyone IS created equal. Every race has their schnitbags. Everyone should be judged on their actions and their own merit. IMHO

Another p.s. - If I just repeated something that someone else has already said, I want to say that you are VERY smart and I just don't have time to read 1278917298 pages of Imass treads

I agree that racial comedy is a double standard. Black comedians CAN joke about all races and white comedians can too but I think when it comes to things that are negative like not working, making babies, welfare, hair, koolaid, watermelon, fried chicken etc. it just sounds worse. I guess because for so many years black people have been called unattractive and unessential that whenever something negative is said about us by a white person joking or not to us it's saying that we are unattractive and unessential/good for nothing.

I am sure there are some black people who don't have the tolerance for it coming from anyone but unfortunately the majority of blacks don't trip off of it when black or latino comedians say it. White people will always be seen in society as successful movers and shakers, the founders and builders of this country. Legacies that stem from great stories in history. Some of y'all may have stories of how unfortunate you grew up or what your ancestors suffered through, but the picture was created and painted long ago and that's the only picture all other races see when we think of white people, the fortunate ones.

I didn't hear Imus say it, and I didn't see the Rutger's women's hair. All I know is that he said nappy headed ho's and and Al and Jesse went :jameo:. I agree the phrase "dead man walking" said to a black person would have been the same reaction as that of Emmett Till and also calling Opio a prostitute was equally wrong the only difference is that it had nothing to do with race. Breathing life into racial tension is going to stir up a lot of issues n mainstream society and no good will come out of that. I agree it's setting us back and there are so many other cultures in this country now that a divide is going to affect everyone.

"Black Panther&quo... 04-15-2007 12:09 PM Last time I checked us whites like fried chicken, watermelons, and all that stuff So dont try to pull the race card. Its bull.. Heres a video just for you . I thinks its funny and so should you :http://youtube.com/watch?v=4ZJuglqChhk

If anyone feels I use the race card then please accept my apology. I'm sorry. :flowers:

My life is not difficult right now so I don't have a need to cry racial injustice. I have never had to cry that. There have been YEARS when my life was really hard on me and my children and not once did I think it was because I was black. I did think it was because I didn't wait to have children, I didnt have my father, I wasn't married, I didn't have a better job, I didn't think and learned by mistakes, but because I was black no.

Because I would never think my race would hold me back from getting ahead in life, if I thought so I would not be still here on somd.com. I may have to take different routes sometimes but I am never held back. I know that any obstacles I have do not stem from that factor. If I made a mistake by saying that black people were teased for being big on eating watermelon and fried chicken and drinking Kool-aid then I apologize. I know that other races enjoy those things, they're enjoyable.

Ok, off to watch the video. :howdy:

I was only using the rape thing as an example from the video.

I will agree that everyone no matter what race can blow everything out of proportion, but this about the people that support the black community saying that if whitey didnt do this we wouldnt do it, and so forth. Or that alot of them still blame america on the slave situation. This is about the black panthers (today), sharpton and any other suporters that think discrimination is only white on black and that blacks are the victim. Id hate to burst the bubble but blacks where not the first or only slaves, the jews, hispanics, and they are not the only ones that have been discriminated against, the japanese holding camps, indians, and today its the latino's. Yes back in the 50' and 60's there was a lot of racism but today its no longer a public matter and thats the problem. I will agree that color is nothing more than a way to call attention to details. Blood is red no matter what race, color, mix whatever. Thats what these organizations need to understand. If someone whould have said dead man walking to black students on trial for a rape crime then they would have been on it fast but since the are white what they dont deserve an apoligy? If they really cared about equal rights they would help all colors and races but they dont. Im not saying they have to but dont protect people based on race. If the KKK was to help fight a justice problem for a white person being blamed for a race crime they would be racist but, sharpton, jackson and others do the same thing but its not racist at least in there eyes.

I think you misunderstood my post. I knew you were using the excerpt from the video. I think anyone using the race card has a weak arugement no matter what. Those people are only a few, not all black people feel that way.

you cannot condem an entire race because of the actions of a few people and that goes not only for the black community, but all races.

You are right but some of these black people (not all) are so brainwashed into believing it's all whities fault and really believe they are owed something. It makes about as much sense as these extremist muslims who kill other people for allah and a place in paradise. Most of us know this isn't reality but you aren't gonna change their minds. They are too far gone.

EXACTLY. Could not have said it better.

Lexi,

You in no way implied that. Whomever wrote that was either being a smartass or just did not understand what you were saying.

On a lighter note, the video looks like my house on a sunday dinners.
Yes I do have blue hair (at times), my house has all of our family there, enjoying each other, cooking and just being....it would not matter if it was friend chicken, T-bone or caviar, someone out there is going to have somehting rude to say.....

I say screw it. I do not care what they have to say because at night the only people I have to answer to is myself, my loved ones and God.
Aint no big deal if they want to make fun of us, because in the end we know what good food really is, what it is like to be surrounded by the people we love, (may not like at times but will always love), and the true basics in life.

Those people (black white purple and blue) only feel better about themselves when they think they are making someone else look or feel bad.....

I understand its not that entire race and that the few that do blow every thing out of proportion are not a way to categorize an entire race. I understand that. But my point is that whenever anything like this happens people like sharpton and jackson make it seem like its a race thing when it most likely isnt.

I will agree with lexi that in the past it seems like white people had the best ability t be succesful. But today you have black CEO's, presidents of companies, politicians and every where else in society from sports to porn. Today i think more people have more equal rights than ever before. But like stated the people that make everything seem like we are still in the 60's will only make progress slow.

And i will agree with tater that everyone is created equal and yo cant base an opinion on somebody based how other people act.

Im going to guess about the same time orange soda did.

By the way i am to lazy to wait for the video to load so i started reading the comments on the one that whoever posted that link in lexi's karma. ITs a perfect example of how people of certain races are. You have some idiots that sound like cmurda, others that sound like sharpton, and a few good ones like fatmomma, lexi and others that dont stereotype based on how one person acts. ANd then you have the few that act like the grand dragon of the KKK.

Agreed.

It's very similar to how the "news" people take an incident of, say, a couple of rednecks murdering a black man by dragging him behind a truck to make the case that white racism is still prevalent in America.

The music industry pays blacks to degrade themselves so white suburban kids can buy the product and pretend they're gangstas, and black artists go along willingly to make a buck. So it takes two to tango.

...argued that it's not the artists; it's the executives that make all the money. In the first place, that doesn't excuse the creators and, even if it did, then for that analogy to hold, he'd have to forgive Imus and blame his bosses.

It's gonna be interesting to see the wiggly and wriggly for awhile.
