Agree with you on this one bcp, if i'm driving down the road doing 35 in a 30, and someone starts to tailgate me i slow right down to the posted limit.

It's about time. Drivers need to become aware that they aren't the only idiot on the road and MOVE over and get out of the passing lane. Common sense: Through lane (right) is used unless you are passing, when you use the "passing" or left lane.

Why do you find it okay to be an ass in your vehicle? In person you are the type to hold the door for people, even though it is a minor inconvenience. But on the road you go out of your way to piss them off?

Too many people feel like theri car is an extension of them. They lose their individuality in the car and drive like asshats. And that goes equally for those who tailgate as for those who try to do their junior cop speed enforcement or brake checks.

If someone was coming up to that door I was holding open, and they were demanding I held it open for them, they would certainly see how fast I could shut it before they got there.

Perhaps from a courtesy standpoint. But on the roads I have to decide which is more important: risking getting a ticket to accommodate the impatience person behind me, or inconvenience the person behind me. No brainer. I’m not getting a ticket for anyone.Perhaps

That person can wait until there's a spot in the right lane to go around the driver that is not speeding. If they are rushing to the hospital or such they can flash their lights and/or beep their horn.

Or the person in the left lane can travel in the right lane at the same speed they were doing before and the person with the emergency would not have to weave his way in and out of traffic which would be more dangerous. Also if you have traveled on RT4 or 235 there is always room to get over but very rarely room to pass unless the person passing is a jerk and forces their way into and out of traffic. As I said before I am a courteous driver and I would not cut anyone off even if there was an emergency. I would probably just end up crapping my pants and cussing the slow drivers under my breath the rest of the way home.

But the fact is the slow driver in the left lane does not know the situation of the person that is trying to get around them. Maybe they got a call that a water pipe broke in their house, they are trying to make a meeting that traffic made them late for, or they have a bathroom situation (which is the worst) and they are trying to get someplace where they can relieve the pain. There are some situations that require a person to go over the speed limit. So by driving the speed limit or under in the left lane these people are saying I don't care what your situation is I am going to do what suits me.

As far as having to go to the bathroom is concerned, I would much rather you soil yourself than kill someone becuase you were not smart enough to pee before you left.

It only takes one emergency to realize that it is annoying that people travel at or below the speed limit in the left lane. I still haven't heard a good reason why someone in the left lane would be inconvenienced if they moved to the right lane.
