Boomerangs in Solomons

I haven't been to Boomerangs in years. The no smoking Nazi rule in MD quelled my desire to dine in.

This past summer I went to an outside BBQ. All the food was picked up from Boomerangs and we dined on picnic tables overlooking whatever Solomon's Landing looks over

OMG...the pulled pork, ribs and unbelievable huge shrimp.

The kids had the usual chicken fingers and such. More shrimp for me!

Everything was fantastic!

..and I was able to smoke afterwards.

You should move to a state that doesn't have a Nazi smoking rule for restaurants. Bye!:yahoo:

LOL - good luck with that. I like that rule, I don't have to put up with the smoke. Use to be you would get either the table with one person who smoked so in defference to their company they sat in the no-smoking section OR you got similiar courtousy to their companions, they would hold cigarette behind them, over your table, so their friends were not bothered by the smoke.

Notice I said we got carryout. It was a $300 order and I'm sure the owner was happy about it.

Take the stick out of your AZZ, lick it real hard and then smoke it. Then...stick it back in.

Get a life.

The Ribs rock !!

Went to Boomerangs last night, it was excellent. All the food was made in house and fresh. We really enjoyed everything. Even the service seemed better, the staff seems more trained. And it was very kid freindly. I really recommend it !! Try the homemade cobbler ( if it's not sold out)

this is not a bunch of free ads..it's sharing Good

Really, it's not free ads. It's sharing the good things in the community and we need more GOOD things emphasized on forums like this. If a business is doing things "right" why can't the forum address those things? Too many wrong things going on right now, sad news, etc. Let's spread the "good".

The food there is fresh, tastes like home cooked, and people like that. People usually tell friends if they want to share a good experience.

Sadly, if people don't like a restaurant or have one bad experience, they slam the place several times over and that hurts a business. Please folks, tell the owner first if you are unhappy, don't spread it all over a forum.....

And, if you are happy about customer service, a restaurant, or another type of business, share the news!

Let me get this straight - if I get violently ill, crap my pants, puke for a week, and almost die I should just tell the owner and not tell people on the forum.

But if I enjoy the meal, I should come straight here and blast it out. Is that it?

Guess what - you can't have it both ways. If you want the free advertising, you better be able to handle the opposite opinion.

Went there last night - not so impressive. Ordered oyster, shrimp, haddock dinner and got the shrimp & haddock dinner - baked potato was scrawny and very odd shaped. Friend ordered ribs and chicken breast dinner and got ribs and half chicken. We both ordered VERY clearly and repeated our order, but when mentioned, she said that is what she put in and thought we ordered. No apology or real concern for us. When I ordered, I specifically askedif they bread their own shrimp or if they bought them that way. She said they bread them on-site. They were NOT hand breaded and were a frozen product. They were fine, but did NOT meet expectations.

I was there for the first time about 8 months ago. Also was a disappointing experience, but many of my friends love it over there. I must have just had two fluke incidents.
Why would you order seafood at a BBQ joint??

Haddock was VERY good, and Oysters were advertised as freshly breaded local oysters. My disappointment was not with the quality of the food (except not thrilled with the shrimp), it was with not getting what we ordered and not having any wish to admit a mistake had been made. I should have asked for the manager and will talk with them. They have actually already reached out to me. I was on a date and she would have been horrified with confrontation that evening. I will go back as friends have re-iterated how good it is.

I had a crabcake there a few weeks back and it was really good. But there were mixed reviews of the food at the table from other folks. Service was nice. However, that's too far of a drive for me for hit and miss food.

Hey listen, if I EVER got food poisoning from anywhere, I'd go straight to the source. And what about people coming down with a stomach virus and the timing being off .It takes one second to spread a BAD rumor about a business...and if you are wrong, it's hard to un do.
If you really do have a problem and can't go to the source, you have a bigger problem.

Spreading the Good stuff about a business of any kind lets people know the good out there. It's still opinion and should be taken as such. People read restaurant reviews, movie reviews, etc. People buy Consumer Reports mag to read rating because they care about people's EXPERIENCES. I'm not saying you should never complain, if the business is receptive and fixes things, or makes it right, isn't that better than a place that won't even listen to you or really does not care if you ever come back?

Really?!

I've had food posioning from a restaurant before. I chose not to go back ever. If anybody suggests that we go to that particular restaurant to eat, I explain that I do not go there EVER.

WTF would I ever go back and chat with the manager??? For a gift certificate? For a free meal? No freaking way. I wouldn't want to risk food posioning again. I stay far far away, and I bet you, the majority of folks would have the exact same reaction.

I've had food poisoning too from a fast food place

It is very hard to determine if you got sick from eating the food or if you were going to get sick anyway. A Doctor can tell you what food poisoning actually is and the symptoms are very close to other things. It's not your typical stomach bug, but the type of bacteria are varied. If you "get sick" then spread the news without really knowing if others got sick too, you could really hurt a business. Stuff ends up on the 6:00 news fast. Many times, real food poisoning comes from the water, ice or even an unclean shake machine.
A good restaurant cooks food in a safe way, is clean and ensures the restrooms are clean as well. Sadly, nobody follows employees into the restroom, need I say more? You should always ask questions to prove your case. Not just get sick then blame the restaurant.
It does happen, but I assure you if it does, the manager of a decent place will hear from more than just one person..and WILL care to fix the issue, fire the person or whatever is needed.

You aren't getting the concept. If a person eats at a restaurant and just *believes* they got food posioning (whether it was or not, that's for you since you seem to be in denial), there is no way that person wants to go back to that restaurant to chat with the restaurant management. They will avoid the resturant like the plague, because in their minds, it is. Regardless of who or what was at fault.

That being said, I, personally, also avoid hit and miss restaurants, restaurants with consistently poor service, and so on. There are a ton of restaurants within distance driving distance, that provide quality consistent food with quality consistent service. To waste my time and money on a sub-par dining experience is just stupid. If restaurants want customers, they will be consisent with the quality of their employees and staff. Word of mouth is how almost all businesses operate.

Have you never heard the phrase, a happy customer will tell 5 friends, an unhappy customer will tell 50? That phrase was pre-facebook, twitter. Nowadays, an unhappy customer tells everybody.
