Bridge shut down?

Guess a supervisor is reading the forums because they all just bolted without their lights on.... in 2 different directions.

I can see chatting for a minute to catch up on how the wife and kids are doing but 3 cruisers hanging out is totally unnecessary....

May cops now have internet access in their cars, and some are known to frequent these forums..... Possible they did read this forum.

Keeping up the speed limit on the bridge would cause a lot less traffice jams. Yeah, you're going to have the occasional accident due to stupidity, i.e. tailgating, not staying in your own lane, etc., but the dayum traffic would move a lot better if folks didn't automatically slow down to 25 mph when they hit the bridge.

I was on that bridge yesterday and I can tell you that I have no idea what the speed limit is -- I was too busy trying to keep up with the traffic and NOT focus too much on why the heck they have those chain link fence sections only on the lower part of the bridge and not on the top where all there is to stop one from tumbling into the water below is that little concrete traffic barrier that wouldn't stop a thing if you got hit at the right angle & speed. And then there's the basic design of the bridge which makes it seem as though you are driving into air at the top (although it's not as bad as the one going into Savannah, Georgia). I can understand why people drive slow on that hideous thing.

(Can you tell I avoid that bridge like the plague? :lmao:)

It's to prevent beer bottles and other trash hitting the homes below the bridge on the St.Mary's side.
How is cresting the top of the bridge different than cresting any other hill?

You must be one of those "I'm afraid of the bridge people" that slams their brakes on as soon as they hit the bridge. There is a speed limit sign. It's either 40 or 45, can't remember which.

Those kinds of bridges remind me of roller coasters as there is nothing on either side except air and something else way far down. I hate roller coasters!

Yes, I do not like driving across bridges, especially high ones as I've had one of those heights phobias since I was a young child (good thing I'm short, huh? :lmao:). And, NO, I'm not one of the ones who slams on my brakes as soon as I hit the bridge -- that's dangerous and would cause someone following me to rear-end me, which would, of course, send me over the side of the bridge :jameo: , something to be avoided at all costs, so whenever I have to drive over the damned things, I keep up with traffic and do the old "focus on the horizon" thing and I manage to get over them just fine with no harm to anyone. Doesn't mean I have to like it! Thanks for the speed limit info -- I'll try to remember that next time I have to drive over that cursed thing.
