Bug Killers on a Segway

Anyone get a visit from a guy on a Segway selling pest control in the last week or 2. One of my brothers lives on Patuxent Beach Rd and had him stop by trying to sell him on the bug control program. My neighbor just got a visit tonight so I guess they are working their way south. From what I understand, these guys are getting dropped of in the neighborhood where they ride around to each house on a segway. The boss gives them a time to meet them for pickup after they are done.

They came to my house a few days ago. Last year I tried it for mosquitos. Did nothing. Total waste of money.

Sounds like the guy that came thru Town Creek, but instead of a Segway he had one of those mileage wheels for measuring distance. Guess they get paid by the mile?

He was in Essex South last weekend. Didn't like it when I told him Frontline was doing a great job.

Son uses one of the local spray companies, maybe Guardian? They spray once a month. We know the month is almost up, it becomes almost impossible to go outside because of the mosquitoes.

I am not a fan of pesticides, but whatever they spray knocks hell out of those bugs.

Came by my place Saturday afternoon. He kept trying to hand me the laminated sheet showing all the different bugs they treated for and their services. I don't think he liked it when I wouldn't take it from his hand, rather than just look at it while he had to hold it up. Take a hint, dude.

that's what my neighbor told me as well - nothing to contact later if you changed your mind. Talk about fly by night...literally it was dark last night when they showed up at his house.

Got the visit. The guy started with the typical script "we were just in the neighborhood performing our incredible service and thought we would offer you the opportunity to give us money. We don't normally accept just anyone but your neighbors vouched for how cool you are."

I have had two different friends that owned small pest control companies. They really don't have/use any super secret chemicals or formulas. The chemicals and concentrations are regulated both by the state and feds. If you live in a particularly restrictive state (like California) they might be able to sneakily import stuff that's illegal from an adjacent state, but I don't think that's an issue here in Maryland.

Just buy something based on Bifenthrin (Like Bifen-IT) and spray around your house 2-3 times a year and you will be good.

We deploy both the spray (small boom sprayer) and the granules on our property (hand broadcast in standing water areas of which we ahve several). Works quite well.

They showed up my house Saturday at 6pm on Baptist Church. I look up and he is standing there in my garage staring at me! Very pushy- we can treat tonight up to 10pm trying to lock you into a service agreement if they treat. Otherwise you have 3 days to cancel a contract (if they don't treat) or they charge you $200 to cancel. I looked them up, MANY bad reviews and BBB revoked their accreditation 6/7/2023 due to their deceptive tactics.

A guy came to my house at 8:30 last night (Hollywood area). I know the company name on the guy's shirt started with an A, but can't remember it now. I looked online and didn't see anything that sounded like it for the tri county area.
He was on foot as far as I could tell. We have a hilly, windy private road and a rather long, windy, hilly, gravel driveway off of that so a Segway wouldn't have gotten him far. Je wasn't rude or anything, but I hate it when the try to use your neighbor's names to get you to sign up.
